My housemate and I every so often will go up to the local and just buy singles of a number of different beers. Sure it's not the most economical way of doing things, but it's the experience we're after

The problem I find with singles is that it doesn't allow my palate to fully appreciate the beer. I like to make final judgment after at least two or three stubbies.

Then again there are some beers that I'd struggle to finish one stubbie lol.

Platinum is pointless. Tastes like shit, and it's not even any stronger than normal TEDs anymore

The minute my Lion rep told me that they were cutting the ABV out of Super TED's + dropping down to 6 packs, I went about deleting them. The only reason people bought them was because they were potent and came in 8 packs.

but Heineken is still the best beer going around

Is this a pisstake?

All I'll say about this beer is that during the Union World Cup of 03, with hyper-marketing in overdrive, we at one of the foremost pubs in Brisbane could not sell pints of the stuff for $5.00. It just refused to sell. I personally never rated it but it seemed the public did not either.

However they did produce some of the best beer paraphernalia around, their coasters were the best in the business.

Am enjoying pale ales at the moment. Finally got around to trying little creatures, it seems to get good reviews everywhere yet i was a little disappointed.

It was nice enough and i drank plenty of them but i don't think it has the taste that the Squire and the Burleigh Brewing 28 pale ales do, yet those beers seem to rate lower.

Have tried fat yak off tap only and that was after many hours of drinking other beers first so will probs try that in stubby form this weekend.

Given the above, what recommendations in pale ales do you lot suggest i should try after the FY?

Pales? You've pretty much had the best ones that Ive tasted already. I hear Stone and Wood Pacific Ale is awesome but I am yet to find it in store to give it a crack.

The Gage Roads Atomic is the only other Pale I can think of but its pretty much on par with the likes of the 150 lashes and such

If you're after big flavour, Alpha Pale Ale by Matilda Bay. Other than that, if you can find the Balmain Brewing Co Pale Ale, I highly recommend that. Stone and Wood Pacific Ale is a belter, outranks the Little Creatures as a general rule from the the ranks I've seen lately. Bridge Road Brewers Beechworth Pale and Matso's Pearlers Pale are also worth trying

Thanks.

Have heard good things about the Balmain pale ale but am lead to believe it's difficult to get. Chances of it being in stores in Brisbane?
