Angry Man is nice, if a bit overrated for mine. As are so many Aussie pales

Got some Balmain Pilsener tonight, perfect arvo for it.

Not a fan at all of the Angry Man, tastes like dirty dish water.

Balmain Pilsener isn't too bad, the Bock is their best but is only available on tap.

Burleigh Brewing "A Bit on the Side Dept" FIGJAM IPA. Burleigh for me do hit + miss beers, and this is a miss. Very big gin smell, and has an almost soapy aftertaste. Pity, I was hopeful this would be another cracker from their limited release range like their Giraffe Stout.

Got three close to code six packs from work for nought...Amstel, Little Creatures Pilsener, and Urquell. On the Amstel as I figured it'd be the worst of them...it is. Glad I didn't pay for it. It tastes like Carlton Dry or Hahn Super, which would be fine, but it's about $18 a 6 pack full cop

Had a couple of bottles of the sierra Nevada northern harvest, didn't like it as much as the southern, still a good drop though.

Got myself a 3 pack of St feuillian . Blonde and triple are 2 class drops didn't think too much of the bruin which odd for me as I'm a big fan of Belgian brown's in general.

Did they stop making Hahn Premium for a period of time after Superdry got popular?

We seemed to have started stocking it at working, drinking one at present. Pretty inoffensive but nothing great.

If you're ever in Shanghai, do not drink at Boxing Cat Brewery. It's admirable them trying to do microbrew in China, but not a fan of a one of their beers. Underwhelming in the extreme.

The Bund Brewery was actually pretty good. They only did 3 beers (dark, pilsner, + lager), and the dark was the pick.

Then again, I was drinking bucketloads of cheap Chinese beers for a week before I got there, so it may not be as good as I remember since I'm compsring it to garbage.

I've heard good things about Shanghai Brewery, but I've yet to check them out. I was drinking a lot of Tiger and Tsing Tao earlier in the year, but that's tapered right off with my girlfriend here.

We;ve released a new exclusive range...Steamrail Ale. There is a Pale, a Golden and an Amber. I have a sneaking suspicion they may be Malt Shovel by way of Lion Nathan, who do our other exclusives. Trying the pale now, I expected garbage but it's not half bad at $45-50 a case. Floral, some hops, nicely bitter and a bit spicy. Slightly short and not as flavoursome as a lot of pale ales out there, but shit, for a few bob more than pisswater like Carlton or Tooheys it's far from a bad beer.

f**k, I miss good beer. It's all Tiger and Tsing Tao here unless you trek to a fancier bar in Shanghai or 1912.

See, I miss Malaysia! I miss 30c Tigers and other locasl...and the food, good god...

Then again (and I do say this without ever having been) I do think Malaysia is probably a much nicer place than China

I'm almost certain of it. Very jealous that my girlfriend is heading there for two weeks while I'm stuck here in the cold.

Thailand in 15 days though!

Thailand is good fun. Personally I got bored very quickly, but the food is top notch and the beers are very well suited to the heat (and I mean both of the food and the climate :p).

My advice would be to be careful what you eat and avoid ice in drinks (which means more beer, what a shame!)...whereas in Malaysia I always ate where the locals ate and avoided the tourists totally, in Thailand I looked for a decent mix of both. Often the local fare is just face meltingly hot, more than anything. Depends where you're going though

I've had plenty of practice avoiding ice cubes here in China  I'll keep it in mind come Thailand. I'm looking forward to some beach time and then some time doing more cultural stuff up north. Should be aces.

face meltingly hot is good

I loved the hot spicy food in Thailand, spice was good stuff but their ingredients like chicken and pork we pretty rank, they never trim the fat or skin off
