Monteiths IPA , dont like the taste or aftertaste. Decided now that I do not like IPA's

Vale IPA...gets raved about, not sure why. Thin and watery

I didn't mind that one, a good hot weather IPA?

Yeah it'd be nice in the heat, and it's not bad... but I like an IPA to be a bit more robust personally. It's indistinguishable from most generic pale ale's IMO

Got given a case of Carlsberg last week, never tried it before. I must say I don't mind it.

What is Largely the difference between an IPA and a standard pale ale?

Depends on the producer, these days. IPA is generally more heavily hopped, higher in alcohol and stronger and heavier on the whole. Pale ale is a pretty broad term though

Work x-mas party this afternoon/evening, these appear to be the beer choices at the venue. I don't know anyone of them:

Spaten München, Löwenbräu Original, Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Hell, Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel, Stiegl Goldbräu, Hofbräu Original, Paulaner Premium Pils.

Anyone recommend any of these? I don't mind pilsners so i was thinking of going straight for that, not a massive fan of the hef beers usually but will probs give that one a go as well.

They're all good beers, from what I remember. The Franziskaners are probably the pick. Obviously the party is at some sort of Bavarian Bier Cafe?

Yeah it is called something like that i believe.

Will give the dark Franziskaners a go and see what it's like

It was the barvarian bier garden, it's on the water in Brisbane, great place and location.

Tried most of the beers, all were awesome.

Unfortunately they were out of the pilsner.

In fairness, I think the Yanks gave us the bland pale ales in the first place...and we've come a long way since!

Monteiths have other good beers at least

I got given a 6pack of different beers in a wooden case for my graduation. It has
- Monteiths Golden Lager (shithouse, had that before)
- Squire Amber Ale (top drop IMO)
- White Rabbit white ale (had off tap, good IIRC)
- Little Creatures Bright Ale (Pretty good from memory)
- Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale (never tried)
- Sleeping Giant IPA (never tried)

The Angry Man is a f**king belter of a drop (with incredibly cool label work too)

Angry Man is nice, if a bit overrated for mine. As are so many Aussie pales

Got some Balmain Pilsener tonight, perfect arvo for it.
