Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Pretzel, Raspberry and Chocolate Ale. Interesting beer, probably good for a middy, far too intense for the 700ml bottle I just had. Tasted like chocolate covered raspberry gummies, smelled the same.

I... did not know that had ever been a thing. The only Aldi I know is in Park Beach Plaza

That sounds like a beer I'd enjoy the f**k out of as a one off. I'd ask where you found it, but the answer is probably "New Zealand".

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a big drinker at all, but why does Crown lager get so much love? It's not that good.

It's the same as Tooheys Extra Dry, Corona, and Stella.

It's just fancy looking piss-water that yuppies drink.

Back in "ye oldie days", it was THE premium beer on the market, and a lot of those customers have stayed loyal to today. I wouldn't say they are gaining a lot of new business however.

Marketing. They push it hard and the people who believe ads are the people who drink it. If Chimay had the same monster campaign they'd be rolling in money as well.

yep.. where the aldi is now, they used to have a pretty cool (well, cool when i was a kid) water park with go-karts etc

http://www.coffscentral.com/aquajetpark/

maybe 10 years ago or so they demolished it..

used to be a pretty cool water park at repton, about 20 mins south of coffs too..

but alas, that went too..

Oh man, would that I had money to afford beers finer than Tun.

Chimay gives virtually all profits to worthy causes, so they'll never accrue the capital for massive expansion.

I quite like Chimay. The Chinese shamelessly ape their brand name. There are Chimay bars everywhere not paying a red cent to Chimay.

Nothing wrong with appreciating a good water slide. The slide at Tingha is the only reason I go to Green Valley Farm.

Emerson's Red Rye IPA. Deliciously sweet at first with a ton of bitter to finish. Honey taste.

Tried starting the day with Budweiser, but I'm a changed man :(

Wolf of the Willows XPA. Of the recent poll of the Top 100 craft beers in Australia, this beer came in at 100. Very full flavoured, think of it as if Little Creatures Pale Ale met Stephen Dank. Full bodied + tasty, a good BBQ drink.

Killer Sprocket Rye IPA. Terrible, just terrible. A true IPA has some great tropical fruit flavours behind the bitterness and alcohol. This just tastes bitter for the sake of being bitter.

I weep for you. If I'm ever in coffs for some reason I'll bring good beverages.

Once I better figure out my finances and get into a kind of budgeting rhythm, I can almost certainly afford to drink better. Hell, I spent $60 yesterday on Cards Against Humanity expansions. That's a good carton right there
