Wouldn’t have lost last night....
This is what gets me about John Morris.

The little bit that I read re: his post-game comments - it was almost as if he views Chad as untouchable - 'Don't blame Chad - It wasn't goalkicking that cost us the game...'

This is sort of acceptance of mediocrity is going to seriously cost him his job.

In the unlikely event that we DO sign Bellyache, I am happy for him to pick the coach...

How many games are won and lost on kicks.
All Bellamy can do is watch the kicks.
It boils down to the guy on the field aiming ,allowing for conditions then kicking the crap out of the blown up oval thingy.
I'd accept Cameron Smith at 40 to do the kicking job.

What would have happened when Chad shanked that first kick was Bellyache would have said Chad is off today, Katoa has kicked and Brailey has been knocking them over in training

Goalkicking didnt really lose us the game.
If he locks it up at 6-6 with first conversion it changes everyones mentality which changes the course of the game.
And if he kicks the last one we go to golden point - did we have it in us?
if we lose then is that a worse feeling?

We lost but a lot of positives from the game.
Raiders are a big strong fast team with a heap of matchwinners and we went 2 tries each.
Our defence was feekin awesome.

The issue with goalkicking is going forward from here.
2 years ago we dropped 2 points 3 weeks in a row from memory (?) despite scoring more tries. The only goals we could kick were under the black dot.

This cannot be our lot - losing from kicking. We score a lot of tries on the wings.
Kennedy overlapping is a major play of ours

I'm no Chad fan but I agree with Bomber. It wasn't all on Chad. Yes he had a bad game compared to last weeks effort, even I thought he was great last week.
Shit canning your half back to the media and public isn't going to fix anything and I'm sure Bomber will be all over it behind closed doors. He seems to have sorted out plenty of others over the off season.

Fair enough.

I have to admit that I think Chad's general play is better this year (2 games in).

However, I just don't rate him as a goalkicker. Maybe the reality is that we simply don't have anyone better, which is a concern!

I’d like to think there’d be extra effort in goal kicking practice this week, rather than punching out another Podcast ep. If he’s still mentally sitting on the 2016 bench in GIO Bruce Stadium, then let’s give Brailey a chance.

Mate I agree with you 100% that creepy kicking style is awkward and uncomfortable to watch LOL.
I really don't think we have anybody better either. He might not be the most naturally gifted player but he is a professional through and through with his work ethic and attitude. just wish his abilities were on par with that attitude.

Yeah me too, I don't think he should be kicking at all. Last week was great but when things go wrong for the bloke he falls down like a house of cards and can't recover. Kicking duties is one more thing that can go wrong. So yeah I agree, give it to Brailey, he as as cool as a cucumber and will handle the pressure a lot better.

What he says to the media doesn't mean that's what he says to the player/team in private. Sure give the fans/media a bit of stuff but leave the rest in house. Where it matters most.

Going off at a player in a the presser is the dumbest thing you can do.

I’m talking about 18 errors and team selections not kicks.

What team selections would you change ? Bring in Fifita perhaps but if his knee is fugged then he's just going to be a liability. Plus we've seen how much Woods carrying on in the ruck does nothing. What do you think Fifita is going to do?

Other than that it's injuries/suspensions and we can't do anything about that.

With Johnson out for another 5 weeks minimum I'd be interested in just letting Chad run the team and general kicking. Maybe someone else can worry about goal kicking ? Though I think he'll get another chance this week and see what happens from there.
