Benji Marshall overrated?

I am aware of that, but why would you do it for field position when you don't have to?
You can also do it from a 20m restart to go further up the field, just don't put it out on the full or its a penalty to the other side in front of the posts (see Finch in 2000 VS Newcastle).

And Marshall f**king dropped it.
Drop kick my arse.

"Why" doesnt come into it.....its permissable, end of.

And it has been said before . . . but make a 15 minute highlight package of Benji in NRL, and compare it to any other player. Anyone.
Game over.

Of course not.

He's not perfect but only a few have been. He needs to learn how to close a game down, than he would be near perfect.

His stats are very, very impressive.

Remember since Prince left he has never had a half to take the pressure of him.

And to compare him to Phil Blake is laughable.

If he didn't play for the Tigers, we probably would have never made the 8 in our history. He's just about the most important player to their club in the comp.

Minus the game plans. Is far too inconsistent to be labelled the "world's best." Would rather a Foran in my side, at least you know what you get from week to week rather than the occasional touch footy try or flashy cut-out.

"Occasional"? Marshall does brilliant things more than any player in the game. "Occasional"????? wtf?????

Debatable. I wouldn't go so faras to label him overrated, but footy is about winning premierships, not scoring flashy tries or going missing in semi-finals..

I still think back to some of his plays in the finals the past two years and think if he played that little bit smarter the Tigers might have won another comp. But if he didn't play so crazy would they have made it that far? Who knows...

I'd love for Kelly to develop into half the attacking player Benji is.

Best anology I've head.

Someone else mentioned how he has nothing to work with which explains a lot of poor decisions as if he didn't no one else would spark anything.

Exactly - his last two semi final campaigns have ended with heartbreaking losses due to his inability to read the game and play smart football.

Actually blame Farah for the lose against the Warriors, Farah held onto it like a genius instead of handing the football over straight away or smarter still taking two steps to the side and kick for touch.

The question is, if he was on the open market, what club wouldn't want to sign him? The answer is NONE.

Is he flawed? Yes. Is he perfect? No. Is he the most exciting player to watch in the comp? Yes. Would we be half the side without him? No.

Would I swap him for another player in the comp? Absolutely not.

To suggest we would be better off with Kieran Foran in our side rather than Benji Marshall is absolutely laughable.

There was never any suggestion Kieran Foran would be a better fit for the Tigers, he obviosuly suits your style perfectly. He was just an example off the top of my head of an (admittedly still young) reliable player. I'm sure Tigers fans would have preferred the safe option in that Warriors semi..

A team of reliable ronnies is what gets you excited ay Hutty? You must be bags of fun...

What makes Marshall one of the world's best players is his ability to win games, and he wins far far more than he loses. Think most of West's victories in 2011 (Dally M points) and the four nations finals in both 2010 & 2011...

He aint perfect by any means, but certainly a rare footballing genius.

 No, I'd rather my key play-maker took the safe option with my side's season on the line & the game theirs to lose.

Having said that, Soward's kick for territory in that Brisbane final was pretty ordinary. f**king loooong off-season & it's only just started!
