Nobody will touch Blair if we are only putting in 100k
He isn't worth 400k+ to anyone else.

Big big f**k up.

Something that i was wondering and this isn't directed at you but is just a general query.

What is this rule regarding contracts where one team has to contribute to an ex players contract?

Also does this apply if the player does not move to an NRL team but instead goes to Union or the super league?

Cheers in advance.

Changing codes i believe cancels any contractual obligations between the player & the code.

Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah has moved to allay fears that Benji Marshall may be on the move, insisting the NRL superstar isn't going anywhere.

Not for at least two-and-a-half seasons anyway.

Marshall's ongoing contract negotiations have become one of the league's biggest sagas, with speculation even coming this week that the former Golden Boot winner could be switching codes to join the NSW Waratahs.

Kiss of death perhaps? Just like saying a CEO saying a coach has the full support of the board;-)

Tauber should understand verbal agreements mean shit. Ask Tim Sheens about his verbal agreement to leave if we didn't make the 8.

If this all about $$$, he will go to rugby because we can't match the $$$.
Please just go.

I've heard from a reasonably good source that Benji wants to be like Israel Folau & SBW - showing he can be a star in multiple codes.

http://m.smh.com.au/rugby-league/le...o-determine-benjis-future-20130630-2p5hw.html

Benji Marshall is expected to decide during his club's June 6-18 bye period whether to accept an upgraded offer from Wests Tigers or set his sights on playing in the next Rugby World Cup and Olympics .
Marshall, who has received an approach from Super Rugby side the Blues to switch codes and return to New Zealand, intends to make a call before the June 19 clash with the Warriors at Leichhardt Oval.
After playing a leading role in the Tigers' best win of the season, against Melbourne, he wants to focus on Friday's clash with Cronulla and will then spend the following two weeks considering his future.

What decision he will make is unclear. Marshall has seemed happier in recent weeks as the Tigers recorded back-to-back wins over Canberra and Melbourne to move within two points of the top eight.
The recent run of success, which means the Tigers have won four of their past five matches, has also shored up the position of coach Mick Potter, whose future was being questioned by some within the club after seven consecutive losses.
At the time, the Tigers had been decimated by injuries and Marshall was struggling for form - prompting concerns about whether Potter was the right man for the job, particularly after his decision to bench Marshall against Canterbury.
''I am not denying that we have been through a very bad patch and I am not denying the fact that when you go through a bad patch the most vulnerable person is the coach, but we are talking about past history,'' Wests Tigers chairman Mike Bailey said.
''We are talking about how bad we went for seven weeks in a row, and I have got to say that I was biting my nails ahead of the game against the Cowboys thinking 'not another loss' but we turned it around there and we have continued to build on that. At that time I was worried - not just about the coach but the whole business - but since then we have been on an upward and onward situation.''
Potter addressed the Tigers board last Thursday night and there was no discussion at the meeting about the possibility he may not see out his two-year contract.
''We were hopeful at that stage that we would beat Melbourne, we have beaten Melbourne and I think that should put to bed some of the rumours and stories that may have been around during that bad patch we suffered,'' Bailey said.
Fairfax Media was told that even when the Tigers were at rock bottom those prepared to consider sacking a second coach within a year would not have the support to do so. Not only are the Tigers still paying Tim Sheens, but officials are also mindful of falling into the same boom-bust cycle as Parramatta, who have had four coaches in the past six seasons.
Marshall was unhappy about being dropped to the bench for the round-eight clash with the Bulldogs but Fairfax Media was told he had never suggested to any Tigers official that Potter should be sacked. However, he is disappointed that a proposed contract extension until 2017 is no longer on the table and the Tigers are now only offering him an upgrade on the remaining two years of his current deal.
The Tigers have boom halves Luke Brookes and Mitchell Moses coming through the ranks but their dilemma is that the 28-year-old Marshall may not hang around.
Marshall's manager Martin Tauber received a new offer for an upgraded contract last Friday but the Tigers are competing with the lure of a Rugby World Cup and playing sevens for New Zealand at the 2016 Olympic Games. ''Benji is contracted with the club until the end of 2015,'' Tigers chief operating officer Grant Mayer said

I think they mean July 8-16, not June.
I don't think he will go.

Who knows. I hope he does go. He needs a fresh challenge and if he goes to rugby different possibilities arise with the World Cup etc. he has pretty well done everything in league. It can only be downhill from now if he stays. He is getting on, it's now or never if he is serious about a switch.

I don't follow Rugby at all so I have no clue but if Benji were to switch codes would he even be a certainty to make the All Blacks team ?

Benji is a loyal character and I am sure he will stay. Farah has said as much last week. Benji needs the WTs and the WTs need Benji. Benji is moving into a new phase of his career teaching some of the younger players and I am sure their enthusiasm will rub off on him. Knowing that he has Simona and Nofoaluma on the wings is certainly an incentive for him.

I think he still is. If you listen to what he says and what people that don't participate in mothers meeting state he still sounds like a great guy.

He appears to be continually backing up the team and the club.

Of course he will back up the club publicly and through the media.
He isn't going to say I hate this guy or show his egotistical side when speaking to the media.

Sounding and being are two different things.

Far from it. Wouldn't be in the top 4 NZ standoffs.

He could play 7's in the Rio Olympics though. Sure he could make that team.

He would be a fullback or wing in union. Obviously he's more suited to 7's. Anyway, he's past his best now, time to move on, people who rely on pace first and foremost always peak early. He should have been a fullback with the Tigers, they'd have won more matches with him there in my opinion.

Israel Dagg is a better all-round fullback than him. Savea and Ranger on the wings. The Rio 7's he's obviously aiming for.

But he does tell you and a couple of other select posters that are on this board exactly what he is thinking.

Cool dude.
