The predisposition to support Mary already exists within this board. Nothing the CEO suggests will change that. Remember Doust did not support Mary last time but the board had already decided (outside of a board meeting) that they were keeping him.

Our CEO in this situation is impotent, he can voice his recommendation but thats it.

Bennett has gone on the record that he will be coaching Brisbane in 2019. Remember we have a heap of players coming off contract at the end of 2019 and Mary's contract ends at the end of 2019.

There are two differences this time round:

  1. WIN representatives have replaced Illawarra Board members.
  2. Johnstone has replaced Doust.

If they spent the same amount of time as they spend on the politics and keeping their jobs, the club would be power house again.

It is one of the most recognised sporting clubs in rugby league.

Can anyone tell me if the WIN reps on the SGI Board are the same people who were on the Board prior to the share buy out?

As far as Bennett is concerned, he has form on Club movement. I am sure he will announce his new club for 2020 prior to Easter 2019 and then instruct recruitment/pathways accordingly. If he announces that he is coming to SGI, you can be sure we will sign Oats and Pangai Jr a short time after the announcement.

I believe the sticking point will come from Illawarra who want Millward to stay in place and who also want Dean Young as the next SGI head coach.

If Dean Young is so good then prove it some where else first please, we have had enough disasters in this club to last fifty years. Proof is in the pudding, go to the UK or win an ISP competition then you might have some standing.

I am not advocation for Dean Young to be coach, I'm just proding my thoughts on what is likely to be the thinking in the background. In the recent past it has all be deals rather than the best person for the job.

Well now we have an ex-Illawarra Coach and an Illawarra recruitment/pathways director. This is balance by having an ex St George and I'm very sure of the idea the factions have agreed to have Dean Young as the next coach. There may be an idea to have Dean Young as assistant to Bennett for 2020-2022 and then for Young to take over as head coach afterwards.

Possum whilst I don't fully support your thoughts, it seems so ludicrous & ridiculous that it probably will be the likely scenario in Dragonworld corridors of power & pecking orders.

I dont like Doust as a CEO but as far as I can gather he didn't want Mary it was the board (incl. Sean O'Connor) who picked him. Any CEO that butts heads with the board too often or vigorously is gone.

Its not its 3 and 3 and soon will be 4 stg 1 illaw 1ceo who will only be involved if needed
