Bennett will no doubt say he is coming here, make a verbal commitment with us and then not come and go somewhere else......that’ s why we have Mary. Bennett gave his would he was returning to us but then simply used us to make more money. No thanks.
Just because Bennett didn't come back doesn't mean we had to have bloody mary....and not f*#k him when he is totally clueless

The fact that everyone is after a recycled ageing Bennett shows their is not much out there. Good coaches are dwindling as are players. Take the Super League for example that level has dropped way below NRL now...and the coaching..well even super coach Steve Price has got Warrington into a challenge cup final..beating Justin Holbrook our ex Under 20's coach.
Be careful what we all wish for in change, the Dragons might sign the Supercoach Price back up now he has done his penance in England. If he gets lauded as a great coach what hope has the Super League got going forward and someone over here especially the gullible media will actually believe it.
Price in...Mary Out...just like the Panthers doing in Cleary again. No it could;nt be done at our club...could it?. That would be the death nell.

We could never accommodate the ‘Chinless One’ again .... but we could move forward and progress with Madge or Hasler.

We are currently enjoying a small window of opportunity with our playing roster so we can only hope our board act and secure an improved coach to take us to the next level.

I must say they are awfully quite at present.

I'm afraid that if Johnston and/or the Board are happy with the current football managemet structure, there will be little chance of attracting a top grade coach. No coach in his right mind would have recruitment/retention outside of his control.

Very sad times indeed, Possm.

Madge has just knocked back Manly.
Good coaches know the ropes and can dictate ( within reason ) to ensure they put in place, the right structure for them to advance on.

Manly obviously wanted the next coach to put up with the same crap as Trent B.

Really happy he flicked them.

Be even happier if our lot could acknowledge our current deficiencies and acted on it.
Unfortunately, the longer this all stays the same, the longer it will.

Really sad times ............... we have so much to offer.

I think we would like what Bennett could bring to the club with him as well as his knowledge.....surely he has some.......has he

My only explanation as to why we wouldn't be interested in Bennett is that he would want to have control of recruitment and retention. He would also want to pick his own coaching staff too. Bringing in Bennett may disturb the status quo.

At the moment the story is that Mary doesn't have total control over recruitment, that could be a reason we missed out on Cleary and any others that we may have approached? If we did actually ever approach any other coaches, since Bellamy?

As I said, to me it is a no brainer to replace Mary with Bennett, especially if Bennett can bring Pangai and Oates with him. Whether it is Bennett or someone else from outside our system, we need a new coach with some fresh, new ideas.
No one is coming

Indeed but the money is now on Bennett going to the Tigers.
Seems its all but sealed.

Bennett going Tigers.
Cleary going Penrith.
McGregor going Nowhere.

Oh well, can't wait till we play the Rorters in the April Grand Final ........ something to look forward to.

Thats exactly what I mean who is out there we are looking for.
I dont think mary has got the goods to go to the next level or either remain a Top 8 coach either..but ATM

Hasler - I wanted him big time a couple of years back but surely his reputation has had a huge battering and no one is even talking about him anymore. They say may never coach in the NRL again after the Dogs debacle.
McGuire - whilst he is a disciplinarian and a change he was a boring style coach (bash and barge) at Souths and they sacked him in the end as was not good enough anymore supposedly. Not the greatest on your resume but yes has a premiership in 2014 to a different style of game as it was only 4-5 years ago with 10 interchanges.
Bennett - I have said enough about his age and the jury is out there if he has still got it. Took a powerhouse to just in the 8 by winning a few late season games with a plethora of junior talent in 1 city. Has 1 of the best support and assistants teams in the NRL. Forever love him for what he did for the Dragons in 2010 but there comes a time to retire and that was now a while ago (different game back then too)

For me that leaves Toovey or Griifin as the best experienced coaches out there. Toovey is not a media darl so gets no talk except going back to Manly where he was sacked for someone worse who was recemmended by GUS..LOL
Neil Henry might be the worlds greatest assistant in the future only.
If we go another rookie (which I doubt) that leaves JD, or those assistants O'Brien or Rylesy (LOL - possbility for the Dragons boys club) from Melb
Someone in this forum talks about Holbrook...really, (another ex junior coach and boys club member) outcoached by Price the other night.

So who are we so desperate to get and why. I say Toovey to take a crack at but not sold on the others especially McGuire who seems to be lauded by the media as the next big thing for a club (except Souths). Did not look so good in 2015-2017.

Fair comment there, BLM01.

Hasler did do himself damage with what happened at the Dogs but l'm more inclined to lay the blame on their CEO and management not doing their job to balance the books.

Castle made a very quick exit over there.

I'd be happy with Hasler providing Millward was doing the books, for which he is.
I'd also be happy to have Toovey. He has the mongrel, them against us, attitude we need to be successful.

I'm amazed to the extent that Bennett has prostituted himself since leaving us and almost returning, thus going to the broncos. Obviously our management are still having reoccurring nightmares about it, so they've stayed away this time round.

My biggest bugbear with our club is their complete contempt for us fans.
They tell us nothing with the exception of scripted bu!!shit once in a blue moon.

Guys I am not sold, has anyone reviewed Haslers and Tooveys win loss record over the 2 seasons they last coached.

It's very poor.

Haslers game he had the dogs playing was boring as bat poo, no attack, players told not to chance their arm, not to play what was ever in front of them, even Damien Cook looked
C grade under Hasler.

Grubs scored few tries, boring as hell and no plan B.

I don't want the days of Price being re enacted.

Time for the dinosaurs to be put to pasture.

More Seibolds.
