Roosters will have:

1. Anthony Minichiello
2. Amos Roberts
3. Iosia Soliola
4. Joel Monaghan
5. John Williams
6. Jamie Soward/Craig Wing
7. Josh Lewis

1. Shaun Foley
2. Shaun Kenny-Dowall
3. Sam Perrett
4. Vince Mellars
5. Chris Walker?
6. John Doyle
7. Mitch Pearce/Jamie Soward

A very pacy backline everywhere except the centres, Soliola is quick in space but needs good ball. Unfortunately, without Hodges, Cross & Hegarty, we lack a real strike centre, unless Monaghan can step up & fill that depth for us. As for backline depth, we have brave young fullback Shaun Foley, two young Junior Kiwi representatives (playing for NZ A this week) in centre Sam Perrett & winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall, towering centre/winger Vince Mellars, & the possibility of signing Chris Walker would give us one more specialist winger (where we lack). Unfortunately our halves depth is poor if Soward & Lewis are FG halves together, as it leaves only John Doyle & Mitchell Pearce in Premier League. However if we find Harrison, Flannery, Anasta or Wing at 5-8, the PL halves of Doyle/Soward would give more depth. There is a large possibilty of Wing at 5-8, due to our excellent depth at hooker.

In conclusion, it's not the best, but it is underrated. If you did swap say Chris Walker for a genuinely proven winger, & Joel Monaghan for a strike centre, & the team would look very dangerous. The halves are both excellent runners too.

Sharks is probably one of the worst.

If it was me I'd have

Covell
Anderson/Taulapapa
Pommeroy
Hannay
Simmons

What it will most likely be is

Simmons
Albert
Pommeroy
Hannay
Covell

Not even going to speculate on the halves just yet;-)

LOL not anymore. However when at the Roosters, he was a very good strike winger/centre, as was Hodges (cira 2002-2003, before injury/nightclubs) & Cross. ATM the two Roosters centres will be Soliola, who is big, strong, has a decent turn of pace when given good ball, hits like a train & can offload & set up his winger (ideally we have Amos outside of him, the two communicate well in attack & defence), similar to a young Ruben Wiki or Mal Meninga. Monaghan on the other hand has a similar build to Cross & can potentially be the strike centre we need, as long as he finds that extra yard of pace, because if he gets extra pace with his size, he could create havoc out wide. With Roberts & Williams/Walker on the wings, & Minichiello at fullback, we could have a potentially devastating backline, as long as Sia & Roberts are kept together & not moved around, & Monaghan steps up. Walker or Williams don't have anything to lose.

Bulldogs backline seem to cop some criticism , but on paper they are a fairly decent backline.

1. PATTEN
2. UTAI
3. TONGA
4. EMELIO / MILLARD.. ( BACK UP CENTRES SONNY BILL / MAITUA)
5. EL MASRI
6. HOLDSWORTH
7. SHERWIN

However , the Storm /Manly / Brisbane and Dragons have the best backlines in my opinion.

Yeah we cop a bit of criticism...I think its just because our forwards take the credit away from the backs. Patten was our best player this year, you wouldn't have heard about it..

Patten - one of the better fullbacks running around, especially if you look at his 2006 form
Utai - terrible 2006, with suspensions/injuries. He is fast and he'll be back in 2007 challenging for the kiwis number 5 again.
Emelio/Millard - will be battling it out for the number 3 jersey. From what i've heard of Millard, they are both solid players.
Tonga - alot of injuries in 2005/2006. If he gets back to his 2004 form he is one of the most damaging centres in the game, up there with Gasnier and Inglis.
El Masri - Everyone thinks he is past it, but he is an awesome finisher, and him being in the top 10 try scorers proves that. And you can never go past the goal kicking.
Holdsworth - will challenge for NSW #6 next year.
Sherwin - admittedly has had a trash 2005 and 2006, but if he gets back to how he played from 2002-2004 there is only one other halfback better than him in the comp.

As for the best backline in the comp for 2007, i'd have to go for the Storm closely followed by the Broncos. Just having King/Inglis/Slater in the team wins the Storm over for me.

i realy cant believe the parramatta team hasnt been mentioned, with tahu, grothe, hayne, b.smith, t.smith and finch.. that is 3 internationals, 1 other SOO and 2 up and coming stars, plus another winger, Inu i suspect, who is also shown alot of good things

Eels without a doubt

1. Hayne/Reddy
2. Inu/Burt
3. Tahu
4 Smith/Hayne
5. Grothe
6. Finch/Mateo
7. T Smith

That sh*ts over atleast 3/4 of NRL sides backlines, potentially a backline that can cause any defense massive problems.

Absolutely, people are talking up crap about their backlines, but in reality aren't a pimple on the arse compared to Parra's.

Inu is the next Hayne, great attacking weapon.

The four best backlines next year are Brisbane, Melbourne, St George & Parra.

How about moving Hunt to half back and hodges to fullback. Hunt may be the half back we have been looking for since alfie.
1. Hodges
2. Topou
3. Tate
4. Dunno (Stagg maybe?)
5. Boyd
6. Lockyer
7. Hunt

Put Berrigan there. I don't think he'll be hooker ahead of Michael Ennis.
