I'd probably rank them;
Norm Provan
Bob McCarthy
Les Boyd
Rod Reddy
Les Davidson
Brad Clyde

From a club perspective you couldn't top a pairing of Provan & Reddy. Tough, great competitors, fierce defenders, great attacking weapons. A perfect pair that would give the opposition nightmares.

Was Lindner really that good? I was a bit young to remember but my mum (a Parra fan) always said he played well for Queensland but did nothing for at club level.
Lindner was a champion. He dismantled the Canberra Raiders at Parra stadium in the late 80's, probably the best comeback of all time for the Eels against a formidable Raiders side.

LOL at the SBW nominations, the guy wouldnt know the meaning of the word 'tough'. He had a good shoulder charge technique so he looked flashy but anyone who can injured so often and so easily by running at centres and halves does not deserve a mention on this list.

Gordon Tallis in his prime would wipe the floor with little Sonny boy and send him crying back to mummy.

His career in Brisbane he was amazing also for Souths and then Wynnum Manly, he was up there with the likes of Miles and Lewis for impact and star power.

He did struggle to fit in at Parra, but was probably more a victim of coming to the club during there downward spiral and replacing a club legend in Pricey. (Driving a BMW to training probably didnt help also)

The years he bulked up big time when playing for Wests he had a fantastic seasons, and his Origin play was spectacular.

I always though the Crushers biggest mistake was turning there best player Lindner into a coach before they had played a game.

And Les Boyd would send them both packing.

SBW was good at cheap-shot shoulder charges.

Don't see why Clyde is nominated as a second rower.

One of the best locks ever. It's out of him & Ray Price.

I wouldn't swap Hindmarsh for anyone, ever. It's a shame his legs gave out or else he might be remembered as the greatest, he used to be outstanding in attack and defence. But I think the best I've seen was Tallis.

I never saw him play, but people who did claim that Johnny Raper has no peer as a lock.

Point being that Clyde, Price, Coote & Raper were specialist locks / known for their play at 8/13
