Blake Austin is a better 5/8 than Anthony Milford & Mitchell Moses

Milf protected Stuart from himself Greg inglis style when he metaphorically glasses him by staying with his broncos contract.

No doubt that milf will very likely become a good to great player but holy moly 1.2 million dollars would have set us back years....and he would have probably left anyway at the end of it.

I am going to make some big calls.

Blake Austin will be NSW's number 6 in 2016, partnering Adam Reynolds in the halves.

Blake Austin will have a better career than Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses.

The Tigers letting Austin go will prove to be one of the worst recruitment/retention mistakes in recent history.

Canberra led by Austin will win a premiership in the next 5 years.

Agree with the lot.

He was being a shithead in the cricket forum a few years ago and the back and forth got a bit too heated so he posted a retirement thread in off topic and was back in a week.

It seems to be have been a perfect outcome for both teams....

Canberra would have had to pay overs for Milford who would have the burden of playmaking responsibilities with Canberra which isn't his go. He fits nicely into Brisbanes structures and is learning to be a great 5/8th.

Meanwhile Canberra get Austin who you can build a team around and is playing for great value.

Austin is definitely having the better season no question, but Milford has a higher ceiling.

It worked out well for both Canberra and Brisbane. Danger for Canberra though is if Austin gets snubbed for origin for the next few years despite playing well, whether he feels the need to move to a bigger side to get noticed.

I dont see why he would, or why that feeling would overwrite his feeling of gratitude to the club who finally showed some belief in him and gave him the chance to prove he's a quality player

He was in the paper this week publically crediting Stuart for helping him become the player he is. I think as long as we pay him his market, he'll stick it out. Same way Carney did, Dugan did, Ferguson did etc...

Since Monaghan-Finch, Zillman and Milford are the only two who have left that we actually tried hard to keep. And both of them returned because of family reasons, not to get noticed or gain a bigger profile. Dugan, Carney and Fergo left because we sacked them, and all after signing long term deals to stay with the club.

Beside, profile wise Blake Austin's doing fine in Canberra, he's one of the most talked about players in the league right now.
