The nrl didn`t have the same standards in 2008 when thaiday, hunt and boyd were filmed in a toilet with a woman after beating the chooks in the qualifying final.the broncos fined their players $140000 but didn`t suspend them cos they needed them to play in the final the following week.

Yeh but that was consensual wasn't it? What's the big deal about bunch of guys tag teaming a chick in the dunies?

The NRL are not jumping at shadows, as many people on here are suggesting. The police took less than 24 f**king hours to find merit in convicting him. They must have some pretty conclusive evidence. That, coupled with Fergusons on record history and what the hell were the NRL supposed to do??

They could have just let it go, then cop the negative headlines in the rags tomorrow morning, calling them soft on offences against women. You KNOW that would have happened. They needed to make a stand and they did, and for that I commend them. We do not need more sensationalist garbage on our heads going into Origin 2. I love sticking it to the media and the wowsers as much as the next guy, but we do not have that luxury in this instance.

Ferguson is a moron with a bad attitude. The Raiders were wrong to give him a lifeline and this is the proof of it. Ferguson has played his last game of NRL football and we all know it deep down, so the Raiders and Blues faithful had better start getting used to it.

So he has now been convicted has he?

Big big difference between charged and convicted.

All that is entirely irrelevant.

All the matters is allowing the legal process to take its course. Once finished then the NRL can have their piece.

Judging people in a very public manner like this is prejudicial and outrageous.

NOONE at the NRL has said he is guilty. Noone is disputing his right to the presumption of innocence.

You can be punished without it meaning everyone thinks you're criminally guilty.

Yes, he could have easily been given a suspended sentence type of punishment.

If he is cleared it is wiped off of his record.

The Raiders should appeal his suspension. Unlike Tamou, who confessed and pleaded guilty, Ferguson is pleading his innocence, and thus the presumption should be that he is in fact innocent until proven guilty, on what basis can the NRL justify his suspension?

Probably that it's on video. And the fact he got kicked out and went back in. Suspended for bringing the game into disrepute.

If he isnt guilty what is he being punished for?

Did the nrl investigate this themselves and decide he deserved punishment? If so then its I dont really have a problem with it but if he is being stood down purely on the allegation and charge then it doesnt seem right.

Just when QLD look vulnerable, drunken halfwit NSW players want to ruin our chances, mark Tamou and Furgason, never to play origin again!

Greg Inglis, Anthony Cherrington, Joel Thompson, Robert Lui, Brice Gibbs, and a range of other players have all had assault charges laid against them over the years. None of them were stood down prior to their trials.

In fact the only player ever to be stood down that I can recall was Greg Bird, who in comparison was banned for a year and chased out of the country.

Inglis was stood down, Lui was also stood down, and eventually released from his contract. Joel Thompson was stood down and also released.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good rant...

He has been stood down re: his behaviour (drunk), kicked out of the venue, returning via the backdoor. His criminal charge has zero to do with being stood down - that is for a court.

Do you really think the NRL have had the chance to undertake a full and proper investigation in the 10 hours since this came to light ?

Its the name of the game. Just like Actors taking $50m a movie and then complaining about the paparazzi. If your a big name footballer earning big money, if you f**k up it's going to be public news and you will probably be stood down pending investigation.

So the NRL have conducted a full investigation in the last 10 hours have they?

How much time did they get with the witnesses ? Or with ferguson ? Wouldn't he have been busy with the police & his lawyer ?
