Vedran Corluka gone to Spurs.
But in MASSIVE news, a takeover bid has been launched by Abu Dhabi United Group or something like that. Could be big.

Premier League football club Manchester City has been taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ABUG), Arabian Business can reveal.

The deal was struck late on Sunday night between the club’s former owner Dr Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister of Thailand, and ADUG.

ADUG will be represented on the new board of Manchester City by Hydra Properties CEO Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim.
Al Fahim, who led negotiations, confirmed the deal had been struck on Monday. He told Arabian Business: “We will release details later, but this is a great event for both the club and Abu Dhabi.

"Our goal is very simple – to make Manchester City the biggest club in the Premier League, and to begin with, to finish in the top four this season.”

Al Fahim stressed that the Group will solve all the club problems and clear any pending payments, and will comprehensively support the club by bringing in some of the best football players in the world.

Manchester City’s future has been uncertain following legal problems faced in Thailand by Shinawatra, who will stay on as honorary president of the club without any administrative responsibilities.

It is understood that negotiations began three weeks ago, and were completed on Sunday night at Emirates Palace Hotel in Dubai.

The deal was signed in the presence of Al Fahim, a member of the Group board and the successful architect of the deal, Shinawatra and Dr Khalid Kadfour Al-Muhairy, the head of the Emirates Group for advocate and legal consultants.

After sealing the deal for one of England's best known and oldest clubs, ABUG hope it will reinforce Abu Dhabi's position as a capital of both sport and economics.

Al Fahim said: "We in Abu Dhabi United Company for Development and Investment are keen to develop ways to provide support and care for various sports activities to help build and develop a new generation of young State, which represents the real wealth and the future of this nation and the cornerstone for building the future of our civilisation.

"As embodied in our mission to open new horizons in all kinds of sports, it will enable them to enjoy healthy body and mind, thanks to the lessons we have learned from the wise leadership in Abu Dhabi."

He added: "We will adopt marketing plans that reflect positively on the club and the company from investments in all sectors of television marketing and purchasing of the stars players, as well as development of infrastructure facilities at the club."

The deal is a huge coup for Al Fahim. Through Hydra Properties he is already involved in several sports sponsorship deals, and is building a new football academy in Abu Dhabi with Italian soccer giants Inter Milan.

Manchester City was founded in 1880 under the name of "Marx Sent" (St. Marks), which was changed to "Pedro" (Ardwick AFC) in 1887. The current name was taken on in 1894.

The club has won the English League Championship twice, the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice and the European Cup Winners Cup once

You mean awesome time!

And Brendo, I'm shelling out for the BEST piece of City merch you have ever seen.
I purchased it off one Kevin Horlock.
It will send me broke, but it's well worth.

I'll send you pics when I get them.

Manchester City make cheeky bid to steal Berbatov from under United's nose
14:28 Mon 01 Sep 2008 - Alex Bivol

With mere hours left in the summer transfer window, which closes at midnight on September 1, the biggest news concerning the future of Dimitar Berbatov was not about a breakthrough in talks with Manchester United, but reports about an unexpected bid for Tottenham's disgruntled Bulgarian striker coming from Manchester City.
Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who faces the prospects of his assets in Thailand being seized, has reportedly agreed to sell his stake in City to Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment just a year after buying the club.
It is believed that the "first instruction to the Blues was to try and lure Berbatov for a reputed £28 million [34.5 million euro]," Manchester Evening News newspaper reported. "The Blues may try and use Martin Petrov to persuade his international team-mate to come to City," it went on to say.
United has pursued Berbatov since the start of the summer, but their £20 million (24.7 million euro) valuation of the Bulgarian fell some £10 million (12.3 million euro) short of what Spurs want. That bid has reportedly been raised to £25 million (30.8 million euro) since then and recent media reports have suggested that United's 20-year-old striker Fraizer Campbell could be made part of the deal.
Despite the late bid, it appears unlikely that Berbatov will settle for a move to another team playing in the Uefa Cup, having described a transfer to United and playing in the Champions league as "a dream".
"The audacious move is bound to rile United, even if Berbatov goes to Old Trafford as expected," Manchester Evening News said.
In the meantime, Spurs have confirmed two major signings on September 1, but there were no news on the status of the talks on Berbatov's future early in the day.
Tottenham have finalised the transfers of Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko for £14 million (17.3 million euro) and defender Vedran Corluka from Manchester City for £8.5 million (10.5 million euro). The duo will replace Robbie Keane, who left for Liverpool in a £20.3 million (25 million euro) deal, and Pascal Chimbonda, who moved to Sunderland for an undisclosed amount.
Spurs, however, did not appear any closer to signing a second striker, which White Hart Lane officials have said to be a pre-requisite for letting Berbatov go.
