Tariq has been nothing special so far this year, cant say he deserves a spot right now

Hoffman has been just about the Warriors best every week and Bird always delivers for NSW

Also cant see why a bench hooker is needed

He shoulda stayed in NQ. Atleast we know he's overhyped

I think Luke Lewis stepped up big time in tough circumstances to help sharks to a win last night, I'd still pick him, you know he'll perform and get the job done if picked of the bench

i think ryan james has leapfrogged a quite a few in the last few weeks for a bench spot.

what's frizelle's rep eligibility? could be a good benchie also, both provide massive impact

James has always had a few good weeks, a few bad weeks, needs to put in a long string of consistency good weeks before he could get Picked, maybe if he keeps it up he might get a spot in game 3

Frizzell is a welsh international, I read that he really loves representing Wales so if he has a really tough decision coming up if he wants to gamble his welsh eligibility for a shot at origin

thats the idea behind putting him on the bench. if he doesn't perform it won't be because of lack of trying unlike some other impact options like tony williams, if you just told james to go out there and reek some havoc on defence, he'd smash a few no doubt

Good time to start some succession planning since Queensland are going to have to do a fair bit of soul searching in the next two years or so given the age of their most recent squad. We can take advantage of that. Would only pick two of Gallen, Bird, Lewis, Hoffman and Watmough this year, and then phase out the other three at the end of next year.

I don't agree with a succession plan yet. We have to pick the best team possible, and if that means gallens, bird, lewis, Hoffman and Watmough are the best choices available they have to be Picked despite their age.

With a view to succession planning, and considering the fact a team that still boasts Smith, Cronk, Thurston, Inglis and co is unlikely to go back-to-back in series losses, at the moment I'd go:

1. Moylan
2. Dugan
3. Jennings
4. Morris
5. Tedesco

6. Soward
7. Mullen

8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Fifita
11. Bird
12. Hoffman
13. Merrin

14. Vaughan
15. Klemmer
16. Jackson
17. Lewis

After that I'd have the following players in and around the squad, not necessarily to play, but to gain experience and become better players for it:

18. Keary
19. Sironen
20. Brooks
21. Evans
22. Peats
23. Mata'utia
24. Wighton
25. Bird
