Oh yeah coz Bird, Gallen and co never ever ever do these types of things :sarcasm:

Try watching the game without your pretty blue shaded glasses on, both sides test the refs each and every game, as they know they can get away with a lot more.

The amount of times a tackle has been completed and Gallen flops in with an elbow to the face - just lol

PS - I'm not saying Myles doesn't do the exact same thing so don't even bother.

re-read the bit you bolded.

"they are the ones getting away with it"

smith, slater and a few other QLDers have done well over the years to con officials into believing they are saints.

if refs pulled both sides up for ruck and the slowing the play infrigements, NSW would be able to put more pressure on the QLD defensive line and origin in general would be a much better spectacle than it has been recently.

it's smart play from QLD, but BS inconsistency from the officials.

Nothing to do with your selectors filling your team with players who have no points in them and are only there to try and stonewall in defense?

NSW selectors have been picking teams to try and not lose for a while now. QLD defense is not that great and with a few more attacking options in that team they would definitely get across the line alot more.

but QLD will get across the line a lot more too.

that era between '08-'11 was one where NSW selectors picked points over defence and got smashed.

origin has been much closer since. it's a trade off. some of the game's greatest attacking halves and backs have been in this generation of QLD teams. NSW have since had a revolving door of competitors with all apart from Hayne & the Morris twins being inferior to this maroon lot of elite players.

a football team is as strong as its weakest link. put all eggs in the points basket and this maroons side will expose and smash NSW.

I agree that Daley has gone ultra conservative with his selections and needs some attacking injection on the bench which he can introduce in the final 10 mins of each half, but to say that a team full of points should be the only consideration is a poor suggestion. been done and failed. besides, there is some decent points and attacking weapons in Dugan, the Morris twins, Jennings and Farrah. It's not all a team that can't get across the try line.

Getting over hearing NSW claim they will play dirty and will get back at the QLD grubs and they do absolutely nothing in the game

it's a fairly f**ken dumb approach advertising it you'd think. what do you reckon the refs will be looking out for when NSW aren't in possession? it's like letting the cops know that you'll be holding up the local 7-11. They'll be waiting and on the look-out for any infringement. Then the players will be bleating at the end of the game about how they're get penalised. f**k me dead!

This is the difference between the approach of the two teams. QLD niggle but know how to do it in this era. NSW are still stuck in the 80s.

well said loz, some on here badly need to heed this advice or f**k off and come back later with the bandwagon supporters

QLD have quite the advantage in this regard. they historically source the bulk of their players from few clubs. BRI, NQ and MEL (who have been a pseudo QLD club anyway due to their big 3 being some of QLD's best players), and then a scattering from others. They don't have the issue of state fans spread across 10 or 11 clubs who all reckon the player at their club deserves selection ahead of another, or entrenched rivalries making players from selected from arch-rivals unlikable.

The DCE situation is really the first time this has been tested for QLD.

Club loyalty shouldn't come into the frame when it comes to rep games. At the end of the day, a player plays at a club that will pay him. We see them come and go. In contrast, a player generally represents the state that he was born and brought up in, like you and I.

Can you explain why?

As a maroon and bronco fan I am right behind DCE and certainly don't have any trouble getting behind him on SOO. In fact when he is not playing V the Broncos I am hoping he is playing well so QLD's future is in good hands.

If Pearce and Hokko were hypothetically to be abducted by aliens, who would Laurie call in to replace them? My money would be on Josh Reynolds and Maloney.

If they were really tossing up between Walker and Johnston being drafted in as 19th then surely Tedesco just jumped the queue? Where is the love for Jim Tedesco?

An embarrassing moment but really out of all the fullbacks Inglis is the only who might make that tackle imo.

The fend from Tapau? There are a few players in the game who would have been able to drag Tapau down when he's already over the line and scored but no one is stopping him from scoring that close - not Inglis, not anybody. But a strong enough fullback would have been able to get around the fend atleast and pull him down, not sent flying from a right hand. I'm glad he's not in the origin squad, Inglis would have done a Steve Turner like job on him. He's got a long way to go before he's origin ready.

Just going by the reception he received by QLDers at Lang Park last weekend after the contract bakflip saga. Broncos have an upcoming half who is on the cusp of selection too.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few idiot QLDers as there are plenty of idiot NSWmen who want to see the player from their club team get selected ahead of another player.

Austin and Adam/Josh Reynolds

Austin looks to be in the frame. If he keeps up his form for the rest of this season, and early next year leading into the '16 series, then you'd think the left-side half role is his.

A Reynolds has to remain fit and continue his development. You'd think that if Pearce stuffs up in the next game or two and Reynolds continues his development this season and leading up to next series, then the right-side could be his.

The problem with NSW selections is that too few halves in recent years have consistently shown that they're any good. Many drop off after good seasons.

Who the f**k cares about 19th men. Many players have been 18th and 19th men and never end up seeing the origin field for the rest of their career.

Adam Reynolds has already shown enough to warrant selection. If he's in decent form next year or leading into game 3, i'd pick him.
