Bluey our new coach

However Cleary has been our longest serving coach and doesn't deserve all the critism he gets. A dream scenario would be Panthers V Warriors final next year :)

I agree, Ivan has been a great servant, he's presided over the transformation of the club from badly managed and inconsistent to a being professional, well run and consistently competitive. Ivan does all the basics well, where he maybe lacks is that ability to inspire players to take that last step up from finals team to true premiership contender. Hopefully he can find that with Phil Gould's assistance at Penrith, but not til Bluey gets us a premiership first!

I think Ivan has gone as far as he can go at the Warriors, top 8 but nothing much further. With Gus Gould backing him, he should do better at Penrith but it'll take a while I reckon.

With Bluey at the helm and the base of talent at his disposal, theres only one direction we will head..

I think he'll have a longer "honeymood period" as far as results go - everyone will want to give him a chance.

The only way things will turn septic is if he pisses off someone equally as popular as himself - e.g. he decides Locke & Johnson are both surplus to requirements and cuts them loose.

I tend to agree, but can see with a start along the lines of 2-4 the knives will be sharpening

I've been fairly happy with Ives as coach, but also a long memory. There's been times I've wanted 'em kicked to the curb...and am I dreaming, or has our attack benefitted since Iro has been assistant? I think since then it's been more attractive and far less dour.
I like the idea of Bluey and Iro as assistant, and from all accounts the three coaches are good mates and should relate and combine well.

Out of the names thrown round I'm happy he has got the job. I am also grateful with what Cleary has done with the club.

I wonder if it has always been planned that he would coach us after he came back from the UK (Was he told once Cleary's contract is up the job was his?). It seemed weird that there were no rumours linking him to an Aussie club.

I think Bluey is used to a bit of heat. He reminds me of a kiwi version of Wayne Bennett, his players would die trying for him.

He will have that team absolutely watertight, ther big question now is who will be in that team..

Yep that has been on show for the past 6 weeks ;-)

Looking back at this thread, there is some serious humble pie to be had for dinner, and perhaps some respect for Ivan.

so what's the difference?

the coach who apparently inspired the kiwis to be amazing can't coach a club team. i don't understand how it can be so f**ked.

I can picture Bluey asking himself the very same question.
