I'm willing to give him time. It's not like he is Edwards useless at the moment. He pissed me the fu*k of yesterday with his slow play of the balls but i'd be pretty upset with myself if i moved clubs and my new club was playing as sh*t as we are now with the best resources out of ANY sports club in the country.

Awesome thread to re-visit haha.

I wanted to create a new one but I thought there was already one.

So I was going to ask. This form of Boyd's now AKA the real Darius Boyd has stood up, where does he rate in the comp as fullbacks? Would you trade him for many?

Early in the season I wouldn't begrudge you for saying he was the worst #1 in the league.

But now he is looking confident and getting multiple linebreak and try assists a game, it's just so good to see. Simple set plays but they always some how seem to end up as tries, and he's is the biggest catalyst for it.

I don't know if I ever rated him as high as some of you did, I remember RABK thinking very highly of him. But right now I would only say Slater, Inglis and Barba would be considered ahead of him, great in form players in their own right.

His ability to hold the ball just the fraction of a second longer to draw in the defenders and get the ball to his outside man is awesome to watch.

Took him time to find his feet but these recent displays are what we were all expecting.

I had a reasonably strong suspicion that he would come good... and to be honest he did probably 6+ weeks ago. I'd trade him for Slater, probably Inglis, but not many others that I can think of. I still feel he plays like a bit of a princess, but he's our princess now. he's an elite player, and i'm happy to have him as long as he wants to stay.

Always have rated him highly Jono. Boyds the polish on a well working football side. Took his time to find his feet here but now the team is playing well he is showing his class.

I can understand why some were quick to lambast him earlier in the season but they must now see why he's worth 450k a season.

Oh and btw Brett Stewart should be included on your list Jono. Behind the Manly pack he's made Slater look like a complete dud at times in their clashes. He's still the best 'extra man' fullback in the comp.

Barba is red hot at the moment, if he keeps it up he'd certainly be ahead, too. he's phenomenal. i don't know that i'd have the current edition Brett Stewart over Boyd. possibly a dead heat.

Injuries cruel Stewart, he can't walk for 4 days after each game. However when he is on the field his passes stick more than Boyds and he is more of a threat running to the line.

I'd take Hayne before anyone, don't care what anyone says - he's the games best player. Slater and even Barba can't do half the things a commited Hayne can do. Slater and Barba would be useless in that Eels side.

Forgot about Hayne.

Some of the above mentioned though are lots of ifs and buts around them. With Boyd he's healthy, and delivering consistently now.

And the fickle Knights fans will come out of the woodwork claiming him as the greatest player in history because he wears Red and Blue....... and that he is only a better option at fullback because the club taught him how to do it.

He was always an elite player, and he always will be.

I will admit, it is nice to see the average Knights fan embrace him, as it can only help his mindset off the field.

I'd gladly have the wanker back. He comes across as a complete tosser, but I still love the guy. Kinda like the guy who's an arsehole to girls, yet they still sleep with him. I'd sleep with him - even if he did make me feel like shit & never called me back.

False. You watch Knights games because you're a closet Knights fan. Admit it

He already told us why he watches Knights games.

I would say he is a closet Boyd lover, but I think he just came out.

Yeah Boyd has been awesome for us lately, just needs to get rid of his shit play-the-balls where he tries to milk a penalty, aka almost every single one.

Looked really good last night and his combinations with other players are starting to look good. That said, I still dont like him, or rate him that highly and wouldn't have him in my top half of fullbacks in the comp.

Interesting graph that really shows what the real strengths of some of the fullbacks we've been discussing are.

Looking at that graph you'd have to think Boyd will end up a 5/8, possibly during his time here.
