Well....that's basically what I said. My point is that it doesn't really matter what Gilligan says
he's not the first author that accidentally created an evil character that others find more sympathetic than he intended through good writing. People will like a well written character. Have you ever read (or know of) the book Lolita. Same deal with that. There is no way in hell Nabokov meant for the main character to be liked. Some people like him though.
Well I think it does matter what Gilligan says as it always matters what the authors say. But that doesn't mean people have to like or not like a character. Hell, people like Hannibal Lector.
Of course it matters what the creator says. People can like the main character of Lolita, but if Nabokov says his intentions are bad, then his intentions are bad. People can still like him despite his bad intentions though. I think that's how this argument started, people questioning me saying Walt is a merkin. People can like Walt as much as they want, but hell, he's still a god damn bastard. Same as people like Theon, or Jaime Lannister, or Stannis in Game of Thrones.
