Brent Tates career maybe over

The Tate punching Bird incident has been blown so far out of proportion it isn't funny.

You'd swear going by the reactions that Tate put every single fibre of his being into that punch and really clocked Bird but as the footage showed he realised it was a dog play and basically just rubbed his closed fist in a strange half-assed act of aggression.

This followed a cheap swinging arm by Grant and Gallen trying to take Tate on and showed how great a fighter he was by throwing one and slipping over straight away in hilarious fashion.

That incident doesn't even rate a mention in comparison to the two dog shots he copped from Jennings in Game 1 2012 or from Merrin in Game 2 2013.

In a team full of some of the grubbiest merkins to ever lace on a boot - Slater, Hodges, Smith, Thaiday, Myles - Brent Tate may have been the grubbiest merkin of them all.

But, what happens on the field stays on the field. I still don't wish injury on any player - except maybe Robert Lui and Kirisome Auva'a - so I wish him all the best and hopefully he can come back again.

Did I miss something? Why do you hate this guy so much?

My apologies!

I meant Kirisome Auva'a.

My apologies especially to Api for ever confusing him with such filth.

Please allow me to edit.

Go home, you're drunk. Grubbier than Slater? Hodges? Smith? Please. All anyone seems to have is one punch on Bird, which should be allowed by law.

How can someone with 2 heads be so one-eyed?

I think it's funny that when a grub has their career ended through injury, some people (Queenslanders in this case) expect everyone to talk about the bloke like they're a saint. The bloke isn't deceased, speaking ill of the injured isn't a crime. I can't say I'm happy about the circumstances but the fact I'll never have to see this merkin grace a rugby league field again brings a smile to my face.

Everything he said was true he didn't "punch" him he for some reason that tate only knows thought about punching but instead jammed his fist on his face and pushed down on it lol which according to Gallen happens every tackle with someone elbow.

You pay your hard earned to watch a game live. If you wanna boo a grub, you can, just like you can cheer if you want to. After 8 years of arrogant domination, I hope the crowd got their monies worth for booing the maroon vermin.

So none of you calling Tate a grub can offer any examples apart from the one on Bird (which was no worse than what almost every player did last night, he just did it with a fist rather than a forearm)?

He played aggressively with an angry look on his face, that doesn't make him a grub. He's no where near Bird and Gallen but he keeps getting compared to them.

You can find examples of the crap he was going on about in sooo many origin tackles from both sides. Swinging arm? lol that is textbook tackle in SOO.

Find me another example of a player punching another player on the ground while two blokes are on top of him.

Just played the game they way it should be played hard and fair.

A true gentleman and a great clubman.

Probably one of the most underated big game players of the Origin era, would always step up to the mark when needed by Queensland and Australia.

Punch? That's not a punch lol it was a angry looking man pressing his fist against an upset mans face.
