Brian Smith -> Roosters?

Smith is contracted to the Knights until the end of the 2010 season.

The Top 4 clause was put in place that if the Knights finished top 4 this season, he would automatically get a renewal until the end of 2011.

The Knights have let Smith out of his contract, or Smith has broken it.

There's numerous reports around about his re-signing earlier this year ( just Google it, there's sh*tloads), so any of the reports now saying he wasn't signed for 2010 is way off the mark.

My only worry is that he will lure some of our players away.
I'm sure he is professional enough to give his best for the rest of the season, and our coach for next year has a great young squad to work with.

I'm not too upset - his work here is done.

Totally agree with you Roopy. He has done a bloody amazing job, put the structures we needed in place, sighned the majority of the squad for the next few seasons, developed the the fringe players and so on. They should rip in for the remainder of this season and send him off a winner. Can't wait to see who Burraston finds to replace him.

Smith is a selfish coach, and has been for many years.

This doesn't come as a shock really. He is the games most unpopular coach, and nothing will change just because he is at the Roosters.

In fact, watch some of the current crop ask at the Roosters ask for a release in coming weeks. Willie Mason will be first cab off the rank. I don't imagine Nate Myles and his new contract is real happy either.

Wonder where that leaves Todd Carney's Rooster deal too? ;-)

We can all sit back and watch Smith ruin Mitchell Pearce's career the same way he has many a halfback over the years.
