Brian Smith -> Roosters?

He won't lure many players away.

If he was more likeable and popular - maybe. It will be more a case of current Roosters players leaving after asking for a release.

In fact, now Smith is leaving, it might mean Patto will STAY.

There was something off with Patto being overlooked last week against the Raiders.

Meh... He's essentially done what he was hired to do. Just hope that it doesn't derail the rest of the season.

Smith and Burraston are talking up winning the competition this year regardless of this news.

Pffft , who the f*ck are they trying to kid?!

We'll be lucky to make the 8 now with the circus that is sure to follow for the rest of 2009. We PROBABLY will scrape into the 8, thanks to a great start of the year, but they are kidding themselves if they truly think the players minds are going to be on the job - let alone Smith's who can bullsh*t all he likes that one eye isn't already on the Roosters role.

We'll see how team morale is in our defensive efforts for the rest of the year.

Folkes is with the West Indies cricket team. I love Newcastle, but there's hardly a choice for him.

The Knights MUST have had a plan 4 years from now that did not involve Smith. That's the weight he brings to an opt-out for his security.

I love the idea of Kearney assisted by Matty Johns. They've both got contacts galore, Stephen needs a gig, Matty needs out of Sydney.

Well it does explain the amount of public fornication Phil Gould has emitted over Smith in the past 12 months.

Why is kearney held in such high regard??? And why would anyone want Matthew Johns involved in a coaching role?

I don't know why he's rated so highly either.

I mean while he was in charge of New Zealand during the World Cup he speaks like a really smart man, loved the way he talks.

But is he just getting rated because he has spent years under Bellamy?

Has learnt coaching under Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennett, ( who Bellamy himself learnt off ), has a good rapport with the kiwi / polynesian players - who lets face it, we have in abundance - and is widely regarded as the best up and coming coach not to be currently coaching first grade.

Why not?!

I could handle Kearney as coach, Matty Johns as his assistant and Under 20's coach! ;-)

Won't happen but.

Also I am reliably informed from a player within the Roosters club that already some of their players are looking at their options. Wish I could source a few texts for you, but I guess you'll have to sit there and think ' yeah right bullsh*t Karma ' until a few start to leave.

Who wants to frame a market on the first Rooster that will be leaving before their contract is up?!

And who did Bellamy spend years under? Yep, Kearney's assistant at the World Cup. Matty isn't a risk as help either. He's got his brother and Phil Gould up his sleeve as well as the Chief backing him for any involvement.

The thing is, why would we expect anything else from this bloke?!

Smith is a selfish coach, and has been for many years.

This doesn't come as a shock really. He is the games most unpopular coach, and nothing will change just because he is at the Roosters.

In fact, watch some of the current crop ask at the Roosters ask for a release in coming weeks. Willie Mason will be first cab off the rank. I don't imagine Nate Myles and his new contract is real happy either.

Wonder where that leaves Todd Carney's Rooster deal too? ;-)

We can all sit back and watch Smith ruin Mitchell Pearce's career the same way he has many a halfback over the years.

Says a lot Stagger doesn't it! $mithy more like it.

wow - newcastle fans turn on a guy quicker than parra fans  ... ok - maybe not - its a tie

You obviously haven't been reading too many of my Smith's posts over the years.

Can't stand the bloke, never have.

I will find it much easier to support my team now he is gone.

So much easier to be more positive now!
