I enjoy the fact that our half-back ( Jeff Robson currently) can tackle and can run, and isn`t flashing his c**k or wandering around legless in the early hours of the morning. Yeah, I enjoy that!
Pity he can't set up tries.

Well tell me this, when was the last our number 7 had a decent game since Tim Smith left?

By letting him go, it pretty much stuffed his career up, there's no way he'll get back into the NRL.

Good player with a lot of potential, just wasted.

Last night! Jeff Robson (not the messiah, not the best half since Andrew Johns or Alan Langer, not going to play state of origin, not going to single-handedly win a grand final for us, not going to save the world with his incredible brilliance) had a good game. His seventh first grade game, mind you. Because at Manly he couldn`t get a look in ahead of Michael Monahan and then Matt Orford. (Not surprising, really). He had a decent game. And if Feleti hadn`t dropped so much ball, we might have seen a lot of attack from Parra last night. This is the stupidest thread I`ve ever seen. Bring back Tim - hick-up - Smith, my arse!

I mean I find it funny how everyone complains they want a team that tries hard and gives 100%...And then people want TIM FREAKING SMITH in the team????

OK, he's not well, but that's exactly who we don't need atm.

there would be a small chance smith might return but i think hes loving life in England. Decent pay check, raking in the money through the reserves and no media scrutiny.

You say this after he plays one game.

FFS great support there.
He does have a point though mate, at best robson is going to be a solid half back, but this gets you no where in todays game. The half back needs to take the game by the neck and control it as his own pace, robson is not the one to do this.

Let's be blunt: given everything that's happened thus far this season, in 2009 we will not win the title. We may or may not make the 8, but to be honest that's not a priority (silly as it sounds).

Season 2009 is for Anderson to start building the team he wants that he feels can win a title in the next year or two.

Now, to that end, for the rest of 2009, all we need imo is a solid, reliable halfback who can let KK, Mortimer and Kelly develop properly at their own pace so that we can really reap the rewards down the track.

That in mind I believe that, until Mortimer is ready, a halves combination of 6. KK 7. Robson is pretty good - for 2009.

Afterwards sure - buy a great halfback or promote youngsters. But for this phase of the rebuilding I think we need a solid halfback, and Robbo fits the bill.

i really don't think robson played well i think he played a boring text book game (ie. pass for a hit up until the 5th then chip to the corner or kick long). if he does improve then great but i have never rated him. sure he played behind orford and witt but there's a reason why no-one tried to poach him and why he has played only seven top grade games at the age of 26.

i reminds me of shane perry in that he has a good skill set but needs to play next to a very dominant playmaker (similar to how finch had to). if anderson takes the shackles off mateo to play his creative best then robson could go ok.

in saying that though i am happier to have robson play 7 for us before i'd welcome tim smith in his current state back to the club. as a fan who threw their support behind him regularly i am very disappointed in the direction he is going.

had michael witt not signed with union i wouldn't have minded him returning to the club.

I have a feeling that the shackles were off Mateo last night but he kept dropping the f**king ball.

haa. to me it looked like he was being used as an extra forward for most of the game.

hopefully the drops are out of his system now and he carves up next week.

Tim played 3 season-I believe he led try assists in first year-2nd year was out most of and was still up there and in his last full season he was 2nd to thurston
So he couldnt run the ball-Could kick and pass thou-What your saying is rather someone who cant kick cant run and cant pass?
C'mon the guys was out best halfback since sterlo.....I prob wouldnt want him back cause of his discipline but to say he cant play ! ! !

Never said he can`t play. Only said he can`t run and can`t tackle. Oh, and his off-field demeanour leaves just a little bit to be desired. Passing game? Incredible, at its best. Kicking game? Same - at its best. But he could put in some shockers, too. But to have him back now? He`d need to pay uis a hundred thousand. And I`d still keep him in reserves.

Mateo looked dangerous in the first 40 and Parra did look dangerous with him touching the ball more. Finishing let us down.

In the 2nd 40, he was just too knackered as Gould said.

I do like him at 6 as he gets more ball but KK looked good trying to back up everything.

I liked Hayne's bust and he and INU should be do that MORE !! i.e. running hard onto the ball
