You gronk, wb was saying wa govt need to support a cofe for rl, I was pointing out they have in nearly every sport in perth so shouldnt be a problem.
Crawl back Into your cave troll.

Their support is next nothing in scheme of things. You know this too

Does it? Why wouldnt they be interested now? It’s hardly like rl has a low profile in brisbane lol

Somehow dolphins added an extra 20k members & a near 30k per home game (despite often playing out dolphins oval which is only 11k)..but according to u everybody who's interested is onboard already

eh? You dont know what support they are offering? It could be substantial, or it might not be.

All we know right now is they are keen, they have formed a cross dept govt working group, they have employed a consultancy group to review bid opportunities and they have committed $1/2mill to develop a bid application. Anything else is pure speculation.

The report the clubs did showed there was a substantial group of RL fans in Brisbane who werent supporting the Broncos. This wasnt news to those of us who actually follow the game and have been advocating for brisabne2 for years. It is quite likely the Dolphins supporter base has predominantly come from this group of fans.
Point stands its not like RL isnt prominent, its not like there are lack of opportunity or facilities to play RL in Brisbane and its not like a third club is somehow going to encourage kids not currently interested in RL to become so is it?

Ironically the Dolphins attendance avg will get a healthy boost from playing in perth instead of at Redcliffe lol

They not spending 10-20 million a year that an expansion side in a non traditional market needs to get going. Hell, dolphins in Brisbane are getting over 10 Milly from news every yr

No club needs that sort of extra money lol And if they do then they should not be allowed in the NRL! Clubs need to generate $12-15million a year to be profitable. This is a proven fact.

Dolphins are getting what, from who?

Lol, league fans with no teams just waiting for Brisbane 2?!

Most dolphins fan will be in north & that area will see increase in player numbers as shot in arm from expansion.

Easier to participate where there's infrastructure & actually clubs to play for. Perth & other non heartland areas will never provide this.

did you read the report? You think those people now following the Dolphins had zero interst in RL before the Dolphins joined the NRL? Doh!

Specifically to prop up expansion.
haha, do you honestly think that the Dolphins are getting $10million more than the standard $17mill a year grant this year because Fox agreed to pay more for tv rights for the expanded comp? Really? Cuckoo, cuckoo.

..& yet not members.
1. you dont know if they were members of other clubs
2. So? They were RL fans who didnt want to follow the Broncos and finally had another club to follow. Not new fans to the game, just fans changing allegiances. Dolphins will in all reality and likelihood create very few 'new' fans for NRL.

Brisbane folk now have 2 Brisbane clubs they can follow in NRL. Why the need for a third choice? Thats just looking greedy and heading to the clusterfck model Sydney is.

Bit like if you put a team in perth except we have lots of people not yet following NRL we can target lol

They created increase to membership, attendance & most likely participation, but that's not new enough for you.

Its not new fans, just recycled existing ones. But yeh its a good thing brisbane has an alternative to the broncos, long overdue. But now there is an alternative there really isnt any need for a third wheel.

I couldnt be arsed to go over old ground about if Fox really did pay anything.
Good you've finally realised what an idiot you are. Dolphins getting $10mill extra a year from NRL? what a laugh.

So now you conceed that a new start up doesnt need sht loads of additional money? Accept that as long as NRL is confident in the business case of a new club to bring in the required $12-15mill then its sweet? No need for WA Govt to be committing a ton of funds to the running of a Perth club?
Good, glad we got there lol

Probably why NRL picked cashed up dolphins & why they passed on Perth with no backers & relying on game day to break even..
