Why does Brisbane need a third team? People in Logan and Ipswich can support the Broncos.

NRL needs to expand across the nation to truly be a national competition.

One team in Perth, one in Adelaide and one in Hobart is not a huge ask.

Perth can be a home grown franchise, call them the Black Swans or relocate Newtown Jets to become the Western Jets.

Relocate SGI to Adelaide to become the Adelaide Dragons how fkn epic would that be? Or split up WST and have Wests become the Adelaide Magpies.

Last but not least, Tasmania can have a relocated Manly to become the Tasmanian Eagles.

It doesnt, and making the same mistakes as Sydney in brisbane is just plain dumb. Not every suburb needs a team. there are now 2 clubs in brisbane rugby league fans there can follow.

A third team in Brisbane isn't the same as having nine in Sydney. It's inevitable that Brisbane will get another team within the next 5 to 10 years. Broncos are easily the richest team in the NRL. Dolphins are not too far behind the Broncos and well ahead of the Sydney clubs.

Why does Sydney need nine teams?

At least three of them struggle to generate revenue from football operations.

I am not a Broncos fan. I live in Logan.

It's like saying people in North Sydney can support the Sea Eagles. Or people in Sutherland can support the Dragons.
What an oximoron... so why do you want a new team in logan, brisbane has 2 teams, answer coz if i am a bears fan i dont support manly now that my team is kicked out of top flight!
Very trivial nonesence... so sydney has 9 teams, take away 3 and hope that those other fans jump onto the equivelant of your hated broncos to support is basically what youve just described...

There's no mistake... you don't look at the bigger picture... 9 teams in alfs comp in Melbourne, 9 teams in Nrls comp in Sydney, cant say one comp is shit because it has 9 teams in one city.. not when your favourite comp is doing the same thing in another city...
Now I've always agreed we should be in every city in Australia, and have a few more teams in the Pacific than just the warriors... i know the next 3 expansion slots will be ones that grow the footprint of the game, PNG, Perth and probably another NZ derby.
A 20 team comp makes 8* teams on Sydney agreeable, (*dragons FT in WIN)
I don't think there's any need to add another seq team for another decade but if they did then Brisbane has the room for aleast 4 teams, another city team, and a western team, add Adelaide and maybe a third NZ maybe a 24 team comp is doable with everyone playing each other once in a 23 round comp, and reversing the H&A sheduling for the next season.... or set up 2 conferences, and do the H&A every season... either way a 24 club comp with 8 teams in one city isn't an issue... its detracting ANY teams that is.. like the rams, crushers, bears and reds, all it did is only hurt the comp

Mistakes which lead to comp worth billions
problem is most of the teams rely completely on TV money, if that drys up they are insolvent tomorrow. Now I do believe those clubs deserve that TV money but its not a good business model to be so reliant on 1 stream of income.

Which is why I focus on revenue from football operations. It gives us a better view of which clubs are most viable.

Brisbane doesn't, SEQ does because...

1. It is the fastest growing region in Australia with RL as it's number 1 sport and this will allow RL to grow with it
2. Ipswich / West Brisbane is one of the fastest growing corners of SEQ, this gives them their own team
3. TV ratings, SEQ is under-leveraged at NRL level which has a flow on effect to the Broadcast deal
4. Crowds, Dolphins are already in the top 3 attendance and membership-wise in the NRL, Jets will only add to this
5. Sponsorship - Dolphins are already second in the league in terms of sponsorship behind the Broncos, again highlighting the untapped gold on offer in SEQ
6. Putting the squeeze on our rivals. Yes, the Reds and Lions will always have a niche foothold, but Dolphins (North), Broncos (City), Jets (West) and Titans (GC) makes it very hard for them to add further teams in the future as we are maxing out what SEQ can support in terms of professional sporting clubs

Yes Perth is important and should be team 18, yes NZ is important and if the business case stacks up should be 19 or 20 but a fourth team in SEQ will be just as big for the game as the Dolphins have been for all the above reasons.

Adelaide and PNG can join further down the track if there is a compelling case.

Its the same mentality. 'If there isnt a club in my neighbourhood I wont follow the game'. With 2 clubs in Brisbane, neither close to selling out games, there is ample opportunity for any NRL fan in Brisbane to actively follow a club.

In your opinion. And even if does that has nothing at all to do with the argument. Which is brisbane is well serviced already whilst other cities are not.
If you live in brisbane and want to follow nrl become a member of dolphins or broncos, both have capacity to take you.

Yeah & Brisbane found an extra 40k members across two teams this year. Plenty more fish there..
