I have been that plastered, that I once forgot taking speed till a few days later. Earlier on that day I had a bad knock to the head during a league game but I dont think I was concussed cos I kept playing on. I dont know if thats actually what happened with Bromwich but I have had an experience like that before.

And, well to be fair, you didn't have the responsibility of being the countries captain at the time.

They need to come down really hard on these two, make an example of them.
However, i do feel a permanent ban is too far.

Geez thats a bit harsh there legs. We are talking one of the best props here, sure he made a mistake that you don't see with sports leaders but I think if he cleans himself up and puts together solid NRL games, he's going to be hard to deny. Because when Jessie Bromwich is good, he's the best. It'll be interesting to see how he bounces back from this. Does he use this disgrace as motivation to play even better and earn back the respect of the fans?

yep hes a good prop...but hes 28 yrs old....so yeah we'll maybe get another 2 years out of him as a topline kiwi...sack him...theres another good one just around the corner...its not like using him is making us win

Couldn't care less about Proctor.

Bromwich is a big loss. But on the bright side, Kenny Bromwich won't be selected now

Don't agree with dropping them. Like I said before the booze most likely had a worse effect on their post match recovery than the cocaine.

IMO, much more likely to hurt yourself and others after a heavy drinking session than on rec drugs. Victimless crime. Bloody dopey Lowe. Save life bans for people who bash others (after a night on the piss)

Fair enough penalty, I guess - will hurt them - I expect SKD is in a similar basket...

Still don't want Packer there, especially if they are going to wank on about integrity of the jersey etc

NZRL should ban Kidwell from the World Cup - seems a decent bloke but man do we seem rubbish

it was a hard day at work today being a kiwi in sydney with the aussies giving it to me. one idiot dik even asked me if i do coke cos im kiwi??????
anyhow my initial reaction was embarrassment and felt let down. i dont know these guys personally but ive met both. they are representing me and my family by wearing the jersey, not only playing in the test but by being in camp and doimg all the official things that come with it being under the KIWI banner during test week.

FMD if they were 2 warrior players i would of totally lost my shizz

For those playing along at home...

David Kidwell didn't make the decision to ban them from the World Cup. He was on radio that very morning saying it'd be up to the senior players and they were possibly lwaning towards letting them off. So it must've been an NZRL call. Kidwell trying to say later on the same day it was because they let him and 'Te Iwi Kiwi' down. Please.

This is also the same guy who publicly and forcefully played out the sacking of Kemble, and holidayed overseas with Farah in the midst of his massive stouch with Jason Taylor (Kidwell was meant to be HRs assistant at Wests)

As I've said I don't give a monkey's about int rugby league but geez there is nothing good going to come about under this fool of a man.

After Fridays onfield result keeping them both in the Kiwis side and making them play every game for the rest of 2017 could be considered harsh punishment.

Left it to the players??????

NO NO NO NO

This needs to come from the governance at the top not the players mates FFS.
I havent made 1 single comment about Kidwell as coach but after that he IS NOT the man to lead us to world cup victory. He seems to enjoy being 1 of the lads

Radio sport spoke to the NZRL CEO this morning. Not exactly convincing in his support of kidwells decisions. But can't see Kidwell losing the job between now and the world cup. Would need a player revolt.

I have been thinking about this.
On the one hand they were young guys on a night out after a football match, What they do is their business.
But that doesn't cut it for me.
They are professional football players taking a banned substance. Refer the matter to ASADA straight away - if they are found with cocaine in their systems - MANDATORY two year ban from the game.
Too drunk to remember? Bullshit!

The NRL is trying to appeal to all sorts: Women in League, Kids, Families, indigenous.
Covering up for drug cheats negates all this.
Covering up for drug tests? Really?

Annersley is a twat. Who was responsible for monitoring the player? They are men. If the Roosters, Storm and Cowboys condone drug use. Say so. If not, prove it by a meaningful sentence.

This issue will have big repercussions with parents considering letting their children play leageue.
Standing a player down from the senior players group. Really, it that how lightly the clubs are treating this. Is this why the Sharks CEO was involved in taking drugs? Is this influencing other clubs decisions?

Drugs have no place in sports. The NRL must speak out against these players caught using banned substances.
Random drug testing of all player at random club training sessions. Testing positive means two years out of the game. Then let's see how seriously the players take it.

Kidwells response has been weak. Is he too close to the players? The NZRL should have called ASADA in the morning after this to test all the players.

Just watched Ikin's interview with Jesse Bromich on NRL 360. Bromich says he spoke to David Kidwell the next day and offered to resign the captaincy and to withdraw from the World Cup as well as donate his match fee to charity. He says that Kidwell asked him not to go public as he, Kidwell, wanted to announce it.

Then this:

"League: Kiwis duo Kevin Proctor and Jesse Bromwich unavailable for selection for Rugby League World Cup
5:04 PM Monday May 8, 2017

I've made the decision, with the backing of the NZRL, that Jesse Bromwich and Kevin Proctor will not be considered for the upcoming World Cup campaign," said Kiwis coach David Kidwell.

"We have values to uphold, and I can't express enough that they have broken my trust, and their teammates' trust. No-one is bigger than the team" said Kidwell.

New Zealand Rugby League are 100 per cent behind this decision," said chief executive Alex Hayton."

Sounds to me like Kidwell is trying to suggest the decision to suspend the players was his. Sounds like he is trying to sound strong. Can the players respect him with this double talk going on?
