When NRL players mess up, most of them will have their 'apology' statements scripted for them by their team's PR people. I think these PR people must be about as high quality in their field as the touch judges cause the crap they come up with is laughably bad.
Basically if your a drunk idiot, the best thing is to say I was a drunk idiot, really sorry, won't do it again. Not come up with a life story excuse/caveats and the other crap. Really is poor PR. I see it all the time.
