But even more bizarre than that, is this idea that "having faith" is somehow sacred. It's a made up belief. Anyone can say they believe in anything, so why don't people get the day off for believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

This is so offensive. The Flying Spaghetti Monster died for our sins.

Lol @ he doesn't know if he will play the GF. He will certainly play if they make it.

Uh have you seen these Mormons?
If 'heavenly father' says no grand final he'd most certainly not play.
Wonder if 10% of his income is going to the church also.

OT don't see the issue if the Dogs are ok with it.

All Judaeo-Christian religions prohibit working on the Sabbath. Some people just take it more seriously than others.

I think if your religion prevents you from doing a crucial part of your job, you shouldn't be working in that industry. If your religion prohibited fighting in wars, you wouldn't join the army.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Mormon (maybe, a moron:cool:) or JW, but just maybe his faith has strengthen over the last year or so (mate, as far as I'm concern, more power to him for standing with his faith).

In today's, Gen Y and Gen Next material world, it is good to see a young bloke with principles.

what principles? he has given up the power of critical thinking and doing whatever he is told

While I don't agree with his decision I still respect it. If he wants to put religon first then it's his choice but I would be cutting down on his salary significantly.

Boom. AFAIK, Mormons believe the Bible is the word of god. Ergo, god's word over everything else, ergo, if god commands it, it must be true, just and moral. This is a complete failure to rationalise morally and objectively as an individual within reality.

Who's doing that? I had a tumour a number of years ago that had to be removed and nearly died from pneumonia in 2010 and I don't blame god?

Same. I had a tumour removed in 2006 and I was lucky to live. So many people told me to thank god etc etc. My reply was that I would rather thank science and my belief in myself to not give up.

God had nothing to do with it.

Yep! All we have at the end of it all, is ourselves and our mind. I will rely on that which I know is objectively true, not that which can only be perceived to be true with faith.

Trouble with you, Packy, is that you think logic and rationality. If the World thought like you the place would be more peaceful.
