A new page in New South Wales Rugby League history will be written by five oclock Saturday afternoon when the 2009 Bundaberg Red Cup Grand Final concludes.
Both Wentworthville and Cabramatta will be chasing their first premiership since the competition was revamped in 2003 under the Jim Beam banner and the outcome is a toss of the coin scenario.
Only two points separated the teams during the regular season before Wentworthville stunned the Two Blues 34-12 in the major Semi-Final at Leichhardt Oval a fortnight ago.
Cabramatta assistant coach Corey Ruttle has been quoted in Big League saying the loss in the Semi- Final could turn out to be the catalyst for a Cabramatta victory on Saturday.
Ruttle also explained in his interview that this is one of the biggest games in the clubs proud history.
For Wentworthville, a club that has been described as the Melbourne Storm of NSWRL competitions, this match will be the icing on the cake for their most successful season under the partnership with the Parramatta club.
Should the Magpies win, it would also give the club the opportunity to create history by winning both the Bundaberg Red Cup and the NSW Cup in the same year.
Both teams have minor changes to the sides which competed in their last match with Wentworthville coach Brett Cook preferring to start Ben Taia in front of Danny Howard and for Cabramatta Cruise Iosefa looks set to start on the wing after Alan Burns limped off in last weeks win over the Bankstown City Bulls.
Gates will open at 12pm and the Round 22 NSW Cup fixture between the Wentworthville Magpies and the Western Suburbs Magpies will act as a curtain raiser for the 2009 Bundaberg Red Cup Grand Final and will kick off at 1.00pm.
Entry is $10 for Adults, $5 for Pensioners and Children (Under 16) are FREE.
