Burns signs with Cowboys

Not the worst signing you'll ever see and they probably didn't have to pay through the nose given Burns lost his starting spot at the Sea Eagles at the time of negotiations.

Kid can play but he's also a dirty customer - who should have been spent a lot more weeks on the sidelines than what he has.

I like players who can hit above their weight but he always aims high with the intent to hit above the shoulders and has a real problem with lifting as the second man in.

Will he work out at the Cowboys? We can't judge that til he starts playing there but if Graham Murray can teach him some respect he could be a very good addition and not cost his team with his ill-discipline.

It's the first thing i thought as well. One of the big reasons he left in the first place was an opportunity to play 5/8 so i'm not sure it'd be sitting too well with him right now. Oh well, he made his bed :lol:

Yeah because I was obviously serious as well :roll: .

On one hand you've got the should be Queensland fullback, the best halfback in the World by a massive margin and a solid hooker and 5/8, and on the other you've got a fullback whose played 1 City Country game, a 5/8 whose a centre and played around 3 games max in the 6, a halfback whose never played Origin, and bombs it under pressure, and a hooker who will be class, but has been stuck behind Shane Dunley for 3 years.

That said, imo Lyon will be better than Burns in the 6.

Good pick up for the Cowboys, there looking very good for this year let alone next year. Gee Manly are putting a lot of faith into Lyon at 5/8.

The way i see it, Cowboys will get better use out of Burns then Manly do.
In the last 2 years at Manly, Burns has probably made about one or two try assists, and about one line break. His Ball running is pretty good and his defense is great.

Lets face it, Thurston just needs a 5/8th that can tackle and kick - Burns does both very well.
Orford on the other hand needs a 5/8th that can take a bit of pressure off him and do something with the ball - What Lyon will hopefully provide.

Matt Ballin > Michael Monaghan (at Hooker).
