To say Lyon has been "horrible" at 5/8 shows either a) something against the bloke or b) a general lack of footy knowledge.

He hasnt been outstanding, but has been solid at worst there. In his 3 games there have seen him put more people through gaps with a nice pass than i have ever seen Burns do, and make Bell and G.Stewart more dangerous players outside him.

To write him off as a 5/8 after 3 games, none of which have been terrible, is laughable

IMO and as an eagles fan this is hard to swallow but:

Bowen over Stewart ( Stewart is more consistant, but Bowen is a more skilled player)
Thurston over Orford
Payne over Ballin (for now, but will be reversed in 12 mnths - mark my words real talent)
Lyon over Burns - this is the closest of all 4!!

Hasler over Murray - and this is the only reason we are ahead of the cows at the moment - look at the job Murray has done with the NSW side, also he couldn't lift the best team in the comp to win the 05 GF

In SOO1 and in both test matches- tri nations and the ANZAC test he was hopeless defensively and that was even in the centres!

He made one defensive mistake in the Tri Nations (rushing up) but was great in both the ANZAC test and SOO1. He's been brilliant for Manly in defence all year.
