Correct me if I am wrong but a player recovering from injury should stay away from alcohol, particularly a player who has had issues in the past. It might be time to follow the Rabbits example and breath test players at training.

I am not saying the shouldn't be allowed to drink, but they are professional athletes, and I don't know of any occupations which allow there staff to turn up to work drunk!

i like seymour and we need him in our team this year to be successful

but he is certaily far from being the sharpest tool in the shed

he has issues, and the media will dig deep enough to find them eventually

SHARKS halfback Brett Seymour is the latest NRL star to fall off the wagon after he finished a 10-hour bender in a garden bed early Monday morning.

Sources have told The Daily Telegraph that Seymour was drunk and out of control in Cronulla on Sunday night, throwing pizza and abusing patrons before being ejected from popular nightspot 2230 Lounge Bar shortly after midnight.

Contrary to reports that Seymour urinated himself, The Daily Telegraph understands that a drink was spilled on him by another patron. He was asked to leave shortly afterwards, and stumbled into a garden bed at the front of the venue.

An onlooker helped Seymour to his feet, before he walked away alone. Ten hours earlier, the former Bronco was one of about eight Sharks players to joined coach Ricky Stuart for a casual drink following Cronulla's win the previous night at the Caringbah Inn.

Witnesses at Caringbah said the group was well behaved to begin with, betting on the races while watching the Rabbitohs-Roosters clash on tv.

It is understood that Stuart and most of the players went home before 6pm, leaving Seymour and two other players to continue drinking.

One witness said the halfback was loud and boisterous before sundown. It is believed the players then headed onto a series of bars in Cronulla Mall to continue drinking.

Winger Misi Taulapapa, props Jacob Selmes and Kane Snowden, and hooker Terence Seu Seu were seen with Seymour as the night wore on.

There are no suggestions that any of the other players behaved inappropriately.

One onlooker in Cronulla said Seymour was knocking back bourbon and cokes later in the night.

"He was pretty gone, talking rubbish to other people and chucking pizza,'' the witness, who did not wish to be identified, said. "The thing that amazed me was that they kept serving him drinks.''

Seymour finished his bender at 2230 Lounge about 12.30am Monday morning, when the venue manager escorted him from the premises for being overly drunk. It was then he fell into the garden bed, where it was last night reported that photographs were taken by onlookers.

The Daily Telegraph understands that Seymour reported for training at 9am the same morning and completed the session. Cronulla CEO Tony Zappia last night said the club was first made aware of Seymour's conduct when a member of the public phoned reception on Monday afternoon.

Zappia spoke to Seymour briefly on the phone last night and they will meet today for more detailed discussions about his behaviour. He confirmed there has been no contact from police.

"I'm just going through the process of collecting as much information as I can and seeing what footage is available from CCTV,'' Zappia added. "I understand there are cameras in the mall that might show us exactly what happened outside the nightclub. We won't be making any calls or deciding any thing until we know exactly what occurred.''

Seymour had been sacked by Brisbane in late 2006 for inappropriate behaviour after allegations he head-butted a woman on the dance floor of Brisbane's Regatta Hotel.

If the NRL is so concerned with the image with alcohol why don't they limit or move away from alcohol sponsorships? FFS if a player is out on the pi$$ independently and it is not related to any form of NRL deal (e.g. not kicking on after a season launch, presentation night etc.) and gets maggotted but does nothing illegal then it is no business of the NRL at all.
Maybe they should take a closer look at the gutter journalists who dredge these non-stories up and the desperate dills who think it is their duty to take pictures of drunks get some pathetic amount of notoriety amongts their friends for selling them on. How the f^ck is a player drunk news!

True no laws were broken, but the nrls code of conduct was

And if it is so bad that the NRL thinks they should be suspending players for using these products then imo the NRL should also be distancing itself from the products as well in terms of advertising, sponsorship etc.

yeah, we have all done it - I have done it too many times to recall

but players will never learn the simple fact that everyone is watching them because they are sporting profiles

if alarm bells have not rang out in the last fortnight - then its either stupidity or arrogance

not a question i would like to see buster answer tbh

Can we get a group of supporters together dressed up as Parkies? Then go to the game dressed as parkies with signs saying "Go Buster!" ?

Pretty good session. Began 10 hours earlier at the casbah and finished at 2230 nightclub.
they dont say what time he arrived there though gunna

he may have arrived after being booted out of elsewhere, had one drink, then got noticed and booted from there as well

The 'story' claims he began at the Caringbah Inn 10 hours earlier (about 2.30pm Sunday by my calculation)and then 'attended a series of venues'.

he may have arrived after being booted out of elsewhere, had one drink, then got noticed and booted from there as well
This is quite possible. Either 2230 security are slack for admitting him or 'buster' can hold his liqour.

Cronulla Mall is allegedly under constant surveillance (so they tell us) by way of cctv. Whatever buster got up to must have been deemed to not warrant police intervention.

If thats the silliest thing that you have heard, then you musn't go out much I guess and I never knew that my views were so keenly anticipated and respected that they make the club look so bad.

You may want to actually find out the difference between an opinion and a rumour, but I am guessing that you can't read anyway.

Now who's the donkey??? I say it's the Dodger!
im sorry if i jumped the gun there, i have a habbit of doing it.

but why would you seriously say something like that?

it just adds fuel to the fire if you ask me.
just because the boys want to go out for a drink, doesnt mean that the club is influencing them into doing it.
and if sticky wants to go out for a drink with them, i don't see any issues with that.
from the reports today, it said that he was there sunday arvo but left with the majority of players after 6pm.

he is not their mother to tell them what time they should be going home.
