Thankfully most of Spagnolos cronies have limped away from this forum with their tails between their legs.

Very disappointing to say the least, if these allegations are true. If proven true I think the whole of 3P need to be banned also for letting such improper conduct happen under their term. Ray Price included. 2 year ban isn't strong enough, I'd go 10 years at least.

Was warned 24 months ago by an eels official spagnolo was selfish and only in it for his own benefit.

Some very interesting points from the above article. 15k for a car worth no more than 9k. 120k in bonuses for Bentley. Did he do anything to warrant such bonuses???

Certainly funny if he can have bonuses in his contract but no KPIs.

sounds like he didn't even have a contract - well not anything that resembles what you might normally put in a contract

The board of the Parramatta Leagues Club has voted to send a report containing allegations of financial impropriety against the former chairman Roy Spagnolo to the NSW government's Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing.
Spagnolo, who was not re-elected at the club elections in May, retained his Eels membership but was being reprimanded and suspended from holding a directorship for two years at a board meeting this week.
It is understood that on Thursday night the directors of the board led by premiership-winning forward Steve Sharp then voted to forward the 900-page report compiled by the firm Russell Corporate Advisory to the liquor and gaming regulator.
It is believed that the findings of the internal review commissioned by Sharp's board only relate in part to allegations against Spagnolo, with wider conclusions about the practices of the former administration and state of the club forming the remainder of the extensive document that will now be investigated by the OLGR.

NSW Hospitality Minister George Souris has already said that matters could be referred from the department to NSW Police. Among more than 30 instances of alleged impropriety, Spagnolo was asked by the Leagues Club board to explain accusations he procured free memberships and travel for family and friends, gave former chief executive Bob Bentley bonuses without approval, including one of $92,998, and improperly claimed money without proper documentation. In one case, he is alleged to have tried to claim back $30,000 for the cost of a Christmas party at his house, penning the invoice in handwriting on the back of a beer coaster.
Spagnolo denies all the claims, insisting he has been reprimanded over ''two administrative errors'', and refuses to vacate the chairman's seat of the Eels' junior body, the Parramatta District Rugby League Club.
He also rejects any suggestion of wrongdoing in claims that the club paid Eels forward Fuifui Moimoi $15,000 for his car in November last year when it was said to be worth between $3800 and $5200.
That episode is likely to gain the attention of NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert in the off-season.
''We're at the period of the year where we begin auditing all clubs, and all issues will be reviewed as part of that,'' an NRL spokesman said.
