Good old Campo. I've got to hand it to him. He busted his gut for the first four weeks of the year.
That seemed enough for the Raiders to hand him a five year contract extension.
Five years of silence coming up!!!! This will be the biggest failed gamble in nrl contracts history.

The fact we have to go back 15 years speaks volumes about our recruitment though....

Well, bringing Mullins back for a year, signing up Morley, and Jason Cayless were all great signings for the club. Nate Myles is going ok, and so is Anasta.

But when you throw in the hodges, walkers, Omeleys, Masons etc etc etc.... not the best record over at Bondi for buying anyone who performs very well outside of being able to get some headlines.

I put it down to a confidence high from after being thrown the keys to the team after Carney was sacked and Neil Henry who instilled that confidence in him. Prior to that he was nothing more than a reserve grader and now he is week by week returning to his original form. Seeing him the Origin side showed that in a decent team he's a nuffy

disagree with that , campese is a good player , he just needs a good halfback that is creative and a good hooker to take the pressure off him, woeful effort by the raiders forwards against Manly so cant blame campo

Was it Furner's idea to sign him up for that long?

I could count the amount of players I'd sign on a five year contract on one hand. Campese would not even come close. Very stupid decision.

As a matter of fact, I cannot think of one single NRL player atm who I'd sign for five years. Plenty of good players of course, but five years is a huge risk.

I can think of some.

Thurston, Slater, K. Hunt, Smith, Farah to name a few.

Out of those guys, I'd prob only sign Slater. The rest...no, due to age, form risks or injury

I think they wanted a 5 year contract because Canberra struggle to sign any players long term to the sh*thole.

Hasn't he been playing on an almost season ending Lisfranc fracture in his foot. I mean he hasn't been great but he probably shouldn't have played quite a few games this year. He did the same thing last year when he injured himself and still played against the Cowboys and was pretty useless.

He's playing for a poorly coached side with an inexperienced halfback and hooker. 5 years is a gamlbe though...

He has only played 50 odd games himself.

If I have a criticism of him its he needs to probably drop a few kilos and work on his fitness. He is too mistake prone when puffed to turn into a lovable fat sporting hero
