Wrong again mcavity. It was JERVIS Bay not NELSON Bay. I have never spent much time in Newcastle mcavity so I will not comment on your city. I'd just like people to stop and analyse things before making ill informed comments on places they have never spent in decent time in, whether it is Canberra, Dapto, Brisbane or Townsville.

Might be right - although Port Stephens Council up here certainly push the line. I can't find anything online pointing either way though - only that Jervis Bay was the federal port (and still is).

Little known fact.

Until Melbourne kicked up a stink the preferred location for the capital was Nelson Bay.

We could have had the most beautiful capital in the world.

Instead, we got Canberra.

Thanks Melbourne.

It's obvious you've never been to Canberra because you are wrong on basically all your facts.

It is not legal to smoke marijuana
It's obvious you can't read because he never said it was legal.

Decriminalisation, however, allows you to grow up to two plants, or be in the possession of just under an ounce of dried weed, and get a $100 slap on the wrist if you're a smart ass and manage to rub the cops the wrong way when they are busting you for something else.

Otherwise they have better things to do with their time.

Also, he wasn't wrong about the pornos and pros either. I guess you have a different definition of "all" than the rest of us.

This thread was completely unnecessary, just as were half the posts in the Re-signing Chris Houston thread.
Every club has skeletons, don't see why these threads have any relevance; it's like digging up your dead enemies, all it does is re-open old wounds.

This is the internets. Your expectations are far too high.

you obviously can't read, because that's exactlly what he said. Also where did I say he was wrong about pornos or pros?

Would you like to reproduce the quote where it was said that marijuana was legal in the ACT? You can't, because that's not "exactly what he said" at all.

The reality of the situation, however, is that ACT citizens are free to grow and use their own personal stash and face a penalty amounting to little more than a parking ticket in the event that the cops wish to impose a fine - which is almost never.

You said he was wrong about "all (his) facts". All would include his statement about pornos and pros, unless you actually meant "all" to mean only one of his "facts", as I'm unaware of anywhere in the ACT that sells liquor 24 hours.

You might want to review your use of the english language in future to avoid these little mishaps.

Raiders fans certainly make up the majority of the dimmest people posting here.

Spent a bit of time in Canberra & was offered big money to re-locate there permanently, but knocked it back.

Great place, excellent facilities, easy to get around, but the big problem? .......It's filled with Canberrans.

Ever had dealings with a public servant? Well, the place is full of them, all with a wanky public service mentality. Glad to be outta there. Nice place to visit though.

yep.. know exactly what you mean... when i go back and speak to people i went to school with, the conversation goes something like this..

me: "so what are you doing these days?"
dilbert (puffing out chest): "i work for the attourney general's department"
me: "good for you. is he a nice person"
dilbert" oh, i've never met him"
me: "so what do you actually do there?"
dilbert: "oh, i'm heavily involved in policy"
me: "so you write the policy?"
dilbert: "no"
me: "do you assist in writing the policy?"
dilbert: "no"
me: "do you help to implement the policy?"
dilbert: "no"
me: "so what exactly do you do with the policy?"
dilbert: "i help to type up what people say needs typing and help to answer letters"
me: "oh, so you're just a clerk then?"
dilbert: "no.. well, yes.. but i'm nearly an APS 4!"

canberra.. a sad place... when i got back there i see the same people, doing the same things and nothing really changed..

I'm guessing you don't know anybody who actually has an education then.
