yeah well I would enjoy to see 2 chicks going toe to toe as well, doesn't mean it is good boxing though mate.

I doubt anyone was looking forward to this fight because it was going to be "good boxing". There was 4 pro fights between the two, it was never going to be anything more than a slug-fest.

4 fights with a 1 and 3 record hardly makes you a "pro".

0 fights with a 0 and 0 record hardly makes you a boxer either, dont see much talk about the fact that Carl hasnt fought since he was what, 16??

The fact is, if Carl had won (which to anyone who watched the fight knows could have happened at any time in the first 2 rounds) he would be copping just as much sh*t from the posters in this forum for beating a nobody, but at least that nobody has stepped into the ring in the last 10 years.

No. He wouldn't. This bloke was hand picked to make Webb look good and he wound up punching his lights out.

Kudos to Webb for getting in the ring. Funny to see him get towelled up though. He never hurt Lewis with his best shots, punched himself out and then got a lesson.

The fact he's a king hit merchant and acts the tough guy is what makes this enjoyable.

anyone who seen the fight knows carl put up a good fight.
can throw em and can definately take them.

to all these nuffies who didn't even see the fight bagging him, you are the tough guys....
for those of you who didn't see the fight, i was supposed to be 4 x 2 min rounds.
they actually fought 4 x 3 min rounds. so in the last min of every round carl was absolutely f*cked.

if the fight was judged on 4 x 2 min rounds carl would have been declared the winner!

Look good for what? his boxing career?? this fight was a one off (although Billy wants Carl to keep up the extra training and possibly have another hit out in Feb). And for the record, he didnt punch his lights out OR towell him up, both fighters were out on their feet from exhaustion, Webb just did all the punching in the first 2 rounds and had nothing left.

It actually reminded me of the Simpsons episode when Homer waits for his opponants to get tired from over-punching, Lewis had to do little more than nudge him in the end.

But he wasn't, he was beaten TKO.

But what if, what if :lol::lol:

Yeah, what if the time keeper was able to stop counting at 2mins when he was meant to instead of letting each round go 1/3 longer than it was meant to.:sarcasm:

I dislike Carl Webb, but i will at least back him up on the fact that it was meant to be 4 x 2 min rounds, not 3.
Sure it was the same for the other bloke...

Carl threw to many punches... that was his problem. Cant box, can brawl.

He's talked up his reputation as the hard man of the NRL and there has been talk of boxing for years. At least we can put all this talk to rest and he can go back to being an overrated nuffie.

Just because a couple of NRL players can fight does not mean everyone can. He's learnt that a couple of punches on the footy field does not mean you can fight for 12 minutes in a ring.

As for the talk of the fight supposed to be 4x2 minutes rather than 4x 3 minutes - if he can't last 4 normal rounds how on earth is he going to make a career out of it? If he doesn't want to be a pro boxer after league why even give it a go? All it has done is shown NRL players they have nothing to fear and his reputation is a myth.

He really has a big target painted o his face now. This will follow him onto the park for the rest of his career.

I certainly hope so, he hasnt shown his aggression on the field for a while now, if someone has the balls to have a go at him on the field (and not an internet forum) im sure it couldnt only benifit his game, as long as its controlled aggression that is.

err, maybe his lack of preperation had something to do with it?

Would you be ready for a professional boxing match in 8 weeks time?

Doubt it.

lack of preparation is a crap excuse. he took the fight on knowing what he needed to do in order to be ready for it. it was his own choice. he is already a professional sportsman, therefore he knew even more about what would be required of him.

Billy Johnstone was quoted saying when he found out Carl was going to fight "you realise you have to take your shirt off in front of a national audience?".

uhhh.... did anyone actually see the fight? cos it doesnt sound like it. I was watching it at a mates place and loved every minute of it. Carl landed a ton of good ones in the first 2 rounds, just not the knock out blow he was looking for. They were both completely exhausted by the end of the 3rd round and stumbling around trying to muster enough energy to swing a punch, looked like two drunks trying to go toe to toe in the carpark at 5am. It was a matter of who could manage to stay on their feet the longest but then when Porter landed a couple near the end Charlie couldnt go any further.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and am happy to see Carl down to 108kgs, just goes to show that football fitness is worlds appart from boxing fitness.

Are you sure you actually watched the fight? Because he was fighting Scott Lewis...

None from Webb himself iirc...always its the media mentioning it.

Good on him for getting into a ring.....you dont do that unless youre tough.

So you think NRL players prviously showed fear?
Once again....I doubt you make it that far if fear's part of your make up.

If I couldn't be ready to fight in 8 weeks and losing would not only damage my reputation in the boxing ring but also on the football field...you know what I would do?

I wouldn't fight. Pretty simple. No excuses.
