Carney sacked

I doubt if it is Todd appealing, it'd be his manager upset at losing his cash cow. I'm not sure Todd would wish to have all the reasons for his sacking aired in public.
There is sure to be a clause in his NRL contract about bringing the game/club into disrepute.
Just my take but it is all, like everyone else not privy to the details, conjecture. Mebbe the club DID give him written warnings.
I don't necessarily subscribe to the view that it is amateur hour at the club. Why? Because I, along with most other people, don't have access to a full set of facts. And, if you have made up your mind without full access to said facts you are really not much better than Bec.
Todd won't be back. We got over Sludges retirement, we got over ETs retirement, we will get over Gals retirement and we will get over Todds demise.

its also worth noting that it was stated by the NRL that the reason they were not deregistering his contract was that the Sharks had already terminated that contract.
Carney/manager spend money to get his contract with the sharks reinstated (if they win on purely procedural grounds), then NRL deregister him.

Lol, isn't there a genius board member who's done something similar a couple of times already? Careful what you wish for!

Don’t expect too many more calls – Carney has referred Noyce to his agent, David Riolo. Carney has never felt comfortable having Noyce as the Cronulla boss – he was at the Roosters when Brian Smith wanted him out. Noyce cut him then, even though Roosters chairman Nick Politis wanted him to stay on a rich contract with incentives.
Do expect Carney to hit the club up for $250,000 that they were supposed to have paid him before June30 – that’s how much they owe him in third-party payments. Given what has happened, Carney is known to be keen to retrieve that money – obviously because he had been prepared to cut the club slack as they tried to accumulate the deals, but all bets are off now.
And when it comes to cash, it should be known that Carney offered to pay a $200,000 fine and sit out the rest of the season rather than be sacked by the Sharks. Not too many players cop that kind of fine, let alone volunteer to pay it. That’s how badly he wanted to stay at the club – and how much damage he knew he had done to their reputation.
Carney made the offer on Sunday afternoon – considered over-the-top by his agent – as an acknowledgement that he was out of line. But it appears that it was never a chance of happening. Noyce and chairman Damian Keogh had made the decision – it appears without telling or consulting all board members. How do we know this? Some board members did not like the decision and want Carney reinstated at the club. It will be raised with Noyce and Keogh in the coming days.

Mick Robinson is the man who took the photo of Todd Carney – and he wants the sporting community to know just how sorry he is. ‘‘I didn’t do it to get him in trouble, I didn’t do it to put out on social media – it was just two drunk blokes on a night out and things went wrong after. I was in the bathroom with Todd and he asked if I had seen the fountain and I’m pretty sure he didn’t know that I took a photo of him doing it.
‘‘I didn’t want to do anything to harm Todd or his career. I was offering to buy him beers on the night but he said he couldn’t do that because he had training the next day. I feel bad and stupid because I sent the photo to my brother and he then lost his phone. I didn’t want this to happen and if there is anything I can do to help Todd, I’ll do it. He didn’t harm anyone. People have done a lot worse. I’ve done worse. It’s been a terrible week for me – people think I did it to him on purpose and I’ve copped a lot of flak for it.
‘‘I met Todd that night and he was a nice bloke ... for this to happen is just not fair to Todd. I’ve got in touch with Todd and apologised. He said, ‘It’s a bit late, I don’t think that you realise what you have done.’ I know now. I want the Sharks to realise they have made a mistake. He deserves to be back at the club. I really want to clear his name. Todd deserves to cleared. If he had have known about this I wouldn’t be out saying all of this in his defence.’’

Good to hear Mick Robinson has done worse than the fountain.

That puts it all into perspective.

I don't buy the lost phone crap.

If someone discovered it, would they even recognise it's Todd Carney?

His brother posted it knowing full well who it was...or he did it himself.

Betchya he isnt Toddys friend any more. Toddy has to eat this turd sandwich im afraid. He may have gotten away with a stack of stuff recently that didnt even make the media. But it's always the way though. You get sprung for the most mundane bland stuff. I climbed scaffolding on a building in the 80's after leaving the pub so pissed someone had to show me a picture of it because i had no memory of it. 8 stories tall or something. Still shudder to this day (am now thinking about it). 2 weeks later I break my nose falling over a power chord laying on the ground sober as. Karma is real. Twas ever thus.

More detail on how the jersey sponsorship came about ... completely justifies the management decision to draw a line in the sand & start repairing the Sharks brand :

The chief executive of Cronulla's new major sponsor has revealed that he approached the Sharks last week in support of their decision to sack five-eighth Todd Carney - and the tough stance on discipline is set to earn the club more sponsorship deals.

Regan Brown, whose company Labour Health was on the front of the jerseys worn by the Cronulla players in Saturday's remarkable 30-28 win over Sydney Roosters, phoned Sharks sponsorship manager Luke Edmonds last Tuesday offering to sponsor the club for the rest of the season, with an option for 2015 to be negotiated in the next month.

The lifelong Cronulla supporter said he backed the swift action taken against Carney and called Edmonds after learning via news reports that the Sharks did not have a major sponsor. "The action that they took was good, I thought it showed that the club was protecting its image," Brown said.

"I wanted to have my business associated with someone who could make a stance like that and show that was not something they were going to tolerate so it made me move forward with it. My company is a leading recruitment company that specialises in drug and alcohol testing and when I read that the Sharkies had no sponsors I thought that I could help out so I contacted Luke and said, 'Would you like a sponsor'."

Welcome aboard Regan Brown. Love your work. Just one question though. How could any life long supporter not know we didnt have a sponsor this year? :0

At the risk of having to fetch my tin foil hat from its esteemed place on my mantlepiece, it sounds a bit convenient.

A "lifelong fan" just suddenly discovering we had no sponsor, just as Carney was sacked, generating headlines in the process, and "confirming" that sacking Carney was the right thing to do for sponsors.
