Central Coast Bears NRL Bid.

Agreed. It seems CC and CQ think they have to fill the void created by the Bombers going quiet ( or maybe even their chief trumpet Peter Badel cant create a story for them) and grab onto something to keep them in the news.
Rather than just saying we are ready to jump into the Knights spot Flo might be better served to say what they have to offer that would see them succeed in lieu of the Knights otherwise it is just attention seeking.
CQ seem to follow any other bids comment and enlarge it as it applies to them. The Lions are actively looking to relocate their training facility into Ipswich and that bid commented when asked by the media and left it there and now the AFL threat has reached CQ where it is "bigger and badder".

Ultimately its the media that decides what to ask and what to published.
Exactly. These people hate the Bears hence no matter what Flo says they will carpet. If a journo rings and asks Flo 'are the Bears ready if the Knights/Sharks/Storm lose their license', and they are, it is his responsibility to confirm they are. Regardless of whether you believe the CC is a strategically important area or not, no one can deny they are the most ready and able to field a team within 2 years without any difficulty.

Flo doesn't want the Knights to fold - its beneficial to the long term interest of the CC BEars (and the Knights/Sea Eagles) if Newcastle and Manly stay in situ....but if a team did fold, he'd be remiss not to take every opportunity offered by journos to let everyone know we are ready to go. The Sharks Daniel Irvine understands and is very supportive for example.

And for the clown who said how can he be a CEO of a 'non existant' entity, he is CEO of both the 104 year old North Sydney Bears AND the Central Coast Bears....10 sec of research would have revealed that. His pay comes from the sponsors of the bid.

Flo and the bid Chairman along with a VIP meet with John Grant hopefully end of this week. Following the meeting, an update will be provided to members and it will be posted here FYI.

Exactly right...

I supported the Bears bid until the numerous reports they did about coming in 'when' the Sharks collapsed, and then the Titans, and now the Knights.

I will not support a bid that is willing to shit on every other team to get in the competition.

Completely different I suppose somehow to the fact that existing teams all shat on the Bears either actively or though standing by and letting them get shafted. Shame on all of them and anyone who doesnt think it stinks.

Everything that you say is true, but with the following additions:

- as a supporter of a club he wanted to grave jump, WE DONT HAVE TO LIKE IT.

- he's not just answering journos questions. I know for a fact in 2009, when the sharks were in trouble, flo went to NRL headquarters to actively lobby for the bears inclusion at our expense. DAMIAN Irvine knows that. He is publicly concilliatory to the bears bid, but privately, let's just say he remembers.

Thanks for correcting re Damian Irvine. Flo was approached by officials from the NRL in 2009 re the Bears situation and responded accordingly, again as all Bears and CC fans would expect and demand.

There is self promotion then there is death riding. Not for the first time Flo is quick to start hovering over a wounded club.

Deathriding? Isn't that a bit rich coming from you mate. Flo gets asked questions and he gives honest answers. He isn't dancing around it, he isn't sugar coating it. He is telling it like it is, IF a club falls over then we'll be ready if need be. Never has he said I wish a club fell over so we can get in. It's always been about if by chance it occurred, which he like us all know it won't happen. Most of the tooters in this thread should stop being over dramatic and start using some effin common sense, that's what I say.

By the way, if by chance next time a journo goes to your CEO and asks the same questions "if club x falls, will you be ready to fill the void", I'll bet my house, my boat, my cars and my life that'll he'll answer the exact same way, it being "IF they fall, we'll be ready". Just so happens the same journo who wrote this piece, is also the same journo who has asked Flo every other previous time. It says one of two things, 1) flo is easy to get in contact with and 2) he is a bears supporter and will always ask flo the same question to get some news. I'd say its both.

I find it interesting that it's always the media going to Flo...

Funny that none of the other expansion teams get asked this question...

Prob because the Sydney media know that hardly anyone in NSW (their selling audience) knows/cares about any of the other bid franchises.....with the Bears having a history of over 100 years its not surprising in NSW at least its the 'go to' bid for comment.

Has Flo come out and said "the Bears are ready to step up if any clubs get the arse with this latest crisis yet?"

I doubt very much that any club will bite the dust over this ACC investigation, but if on the very off chance that a Sydney club does fold Flo will probably be one of the first people that the ARLC calls.

No worries! I think my fear is that the nrl won't do that. They won't squash hopes for the coast or bears for fear that people (which they would) will drift to other codes. Instead they'll vaguely offer faint hope for the future, stringing everyone along.

That won't be acceptable any more to central coast or bears fans.

People will drift to other codes? If they do they were never league fans in the first place and don't deserve a team.

By the way Liverpool has no team yet remains solid league territory.

Liverpool doesn't have a team?

I thought their area was covered in the NRL.

You know, with it being 20 minutes away from both Campbelltown and Bankstown.
