Is that honestly your best shot, you insecure little man.
Please carry on with your latent homosexual Brokeback jokes - what other little secrets would you care to reveal to the masses.

You're uneducated. Your team is a disgrace who are finally going to get their comeuppance as Max (and others) leave the sinking ship. What goes around ...

I actually see the positives in the bears v eagles matches. It means 2 sold out games which means more $$ in both franchises pockets. One game @ Brookie and the other will be the only game annually played @ north sydney oval. Should make for cracking encounters.

I don't think fans visiting Brookvale will be happy about having to have TB and cholera injections before entering the ground.

Bring them all in indeed and you can add Central QLD to that mix and maybe one day Adelaide or Darwin or PNG as well.

But we have to expand wisely and precisely. We can't simply aim darts at a map and say there. We need foundations to first be built in these areas. We need self sustainable business plans. We management structure. We also need sponsors both major and local. We need the local communities to actually want a team and by showing that via. financial memberships and general community involvement. We need infrastructure. We need decent sized communities in population and potential growth. We also need to see how the would be franchise bid can add to the NRL pie helping it grow and add to the game in general.

I'm not sure how the NRL look at expansion but I'm thinking they look at it very similar to the above paragraph. If so then I'd say based on the current bids aiming for a 2013 entry the order might look like this

1. Central Coast Bears (RL foundation, sponsors major & local, memberships & community involvement, stadium, infrastructure, high population, self sustainability, can help the NRL grow the pie, low risk entry)

2. W.A. Reds (sponsors major & local, memberships & community involvement, stadium, infrastructure, high population, can help the NRL grow the pie immensely, high risk entry)

3. Central QLD NRL Bid (RL foundation, sponsors major & local, population, self sustainability, can help the NRL grow the pie, medium risk entry)

4. Ipswich/Western Jets (RL foundation, population, stadium 50kms away, can help the NRL grow the pie, medium risk entry)

5. 2nd NZ NRL team (population, stadium, infrastructure, can help the NRL grow the pie, high risk entry)

6. PNG NRL Bid (RL foundation, population, high risk entry)

7. Darwin (population, high risk)

8. Adelaide (population, stadium, infrastructure, high risk)

Can't wait to watch the CC Bears at Gosford. Also the one game with my few "Manly" supporters that are not twisted and bitter about the Bears at NSO. Bring in the CC Bears and WA Reds into the NRL in 2013.

...etc

That's all well and good to talk about those things, but the one thing above all else that will determine the best candidate from the perspective of the NRL is how much that club will increase the TV revenue.

And obviously the benchmark for an increase in TV revenue is not whether the new club generates $1 extra, but how much it brings in over and above the club grant, $3.2m or whatever it is at the time.

In the long term a team in Perth might increase TV income, perhaps in 10 or 20 years if they build an audience there. In the short term the only club that will increase the TV revenue would be another one based in South East Qld.

All those other requirements are basically just yes or no. Will the club get decent crowds? Will they get a jersey sponsor?

The Bears already have a list of jersey sponsors - Mortgage House front of jersey, Sinalli and Fortunity also on the strip.

Pretty sure the crowds will turn up - the average crowds at Bluetongue since 2003-4 have been much better than other clubs.

I personally have no axe to grind in regards to the Bears and have enjoyed many local derbies over the years...Good luck with your bid !

Not to mention that the Bears were the 2nd most watched team on TV during the 90s, before tv revenue was a major issue. That works in our favour as well.
