I agree. The Central Coast is consolidation, not expansion.

Yes your right we already have Newcastle in the area.

Perth or second Brisbane team way better for T.V money.

Hope the NRL can see that the Central Coast Bears is only a duplication of what we already have.

I went to Wesfield Hornsby today and was once more impressed by the team and what they're doing off the field. Impressive.

Haters continue to hate. The Central Coast Bears will be kicking off in 2013.

My opinions on NRL expansion aren't defined by which team I support. I haven't nominated or excluded any team so it's an irrelevant question.
You have made it an irrelevent question because it is convenient to do so. By making the statement in the first place: "I'd like to see a NSW team fold/relocate before this team started up.", you have included all NSW teams as possible folders or relocators. The fact that you haven't specifically labeled one is a moot point. Again, it is very easy to call for relocation or mergers or joint ventures but I don't see any fans that call for this putting their hands up for their team to be the ones doing so. If you feel this is directed at you personally it is not, it is directed at anyone with this viewpoint.

I'd love to see a team on the CC for all the reasons you pointed out but I feel if we're heading towards an 18 team comp that I'd rather see these two teams bring new player pools and new revenue streams which granted the CC will but not to the same potential that a team in W.A or PNG could.

I reckon we've got it the wrong way around in bringing the CC in before these two new regions, that's my main point.
I said nothing about the bears being the next team in, I said that a side on the central coast should come in the future. You mention new player pools - the problem with both W.A and PNG is that they do not have a player pool that is anywhere near adequate for entry into the NRL. Bringing 2 new teams from areas that have no short term player pools will diminish any new revenue streams that you wish to collect - Melbourne and the black hole of funding that it is is the prime example. Also, any time you expand, for a short period you drain the existing pool of players and corporate support that you have at other clubs, so therefore it is more prudent to expand in difficult and non traditional markets slowly or else increase the risk of jeopardising your existing resources (clubs).
The best way, IMO, to expand is to bring in your new area, as you have suggested, as well as an established area. That is, one of WA/PNG/Adelaide etc along with one of CC/additional QLD side/2nd NZ side. FTR - my preferences for 2 new teams in an 18 team competition are WA and another QLD team.

I'd prefer PNG players be bought into the NRL or into Toyota Cup etc etc. No way is PNG anywhere near ready or able to have an NRL side.

Central Coast Bears have the finances well and truly covered.
Professional board
Great junior nursery
Great league history
GReat venue

They also become only the second side in the NRL between Sydney Roosters and Newcastle. That is a vast area being predominantly ignored with the exception of the peninsula. They must be included in 2013.

Perth is the other option I would look at as well.

The NRL can't just expand into areas they think they need to grow the game. They need to expand into areas the game has a strong base.

I for one really hope the Central Coast get into the 2013 competition as well as Perth Reds. An away trip to Perth and the Little Creatures Brewery in Freo. There's a trip for the winter.

I can't wait til they make the decision. If only so we can stop having the same conversations about expansion that we've been having for the last 2 or 3 years

Idiotic people who want the NRL to take a "dart on the map" strategy are idiots. Clubs brought into the NRL should be brought in on the strength of their bid (which is where the Bears are unsurpassed at the moment) and the likelihood of longterm success (with the support the CC and North Sydney community have shown to this bid, longterm success is also very likely). When Gallop holds his press conference next year announcing which 2 teams will be in the NRL in 2013, the first word out of his mouth should be "Central".

Fancy Zorba yesterday morning supporting a CC team, but ONLY if they are a 100percent CC team and have nothing to do with the old Bears territory.

These Manly f**kers are paranoid and so they should be.

Yeah, the same old crap just like this

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/n...rs-over-the-line/story-e6frfgbo-1225957333872

NRL boss David Gallop gave little away about the bid and the Bears' chances of success.
"There is the issue of expansion to consider first and foremost and then there is the issue of whether you go into a completely new area and try to build it into a rugby league stronghold or whether you fish where the fish are and stick to the heartland," he said.
"The Central Coast certainly falls into the heartland category."

It's getting rather tedious.

Exactly hit the nail on the head. The AFL would have no chance expanding "into" Victoria as there doesn't seem to be adequate facilities outside the city (excl. Geelong of course) to enable a team.

I think it's much smarter to drop a team into somewhere that already knows and loves league than it is to exapnd to somewhere that might prove a complete flop in a few years time.

Having said that, there's no guarantee the Titans will continue to be as successful as they have been, ticket prices are still exorbitant despite the honeymoon period being over - people will only stop "hanging the cost" for so long. And they've now got the Suns to compete with... sort of.

That is my point. QLD needs more teams to counter the AFL invasion. The Sydney region doesn't need another team when the gws starts up. If 9 v 2 isn't enough then we should throw in the towel now.

Who would have guessed.

"Central" to our considerations were the need for a new club.
"Central" is the major train station in Sydney.
"Central is a term used to describe the position of an object.

Ok, for the masses out there who aren't as intelligent as BunniesMan. The first word out of his mouth should be Central, followed by... "Coast Bears", followed by..."are the first team to be brought into the competition in 2013". And then the other team can be whatever merkin team they want in whatever merkin state. WA/QLD...same diff, all merkins (although I personally want WA so Souths can stop playing home games over there). We all know everyone and everything outside of NSW is useless.

Well Perth need to have red (it's the name... ;-)) but I've suggested instead of black or silver/gray, a mixture of unused combination of Cardinal Red & Old Gold -
