It was very interesting to see the wind change to favour our bid. For a long time we were just a "dot on the map" according to Gallop and he very rarely even mentioned our bid when talking about expansion, in fact he even went as far as to leak an NRL document saying Perth and Adelaide were worth nothing to TV execs. Then all of a sudden it was a complete 180 and he was suddenly our best friend, championing our bid and talking us up. I would love to know what transpired to change his attitude to our bid!

Money money money.

I've always liked the Reds bid, it's something the game needs. Also brings more sponsorship dollars to all teams and not just the WA Reds for obvious reasons.

How many games did NZ get on Nine this year? I think that answer is a fair indication of how networks would feel about a second team over there. Sure, an extra FTA game is worth something to FTA, but the extra money knowing that extra game involves a QLD team is worth much more than any extra money offered by sky.

Please, thats pure speculation. You have no idea what SKY would possibly offer for an extra game per week involving a NZ team. The odds of getting a significantly better deal are low because of the power that SKY now has in NZ television.

Nine may not be very interested in a live game from NZ, but Fox could see great benefit.

Another indicator as to why the Warriors weren't on 9 much this year could be attributed to their success which wasn't very good.

It would come down to if 9 and Fox would be willing to pay more for another Qld option or would SKY and Fox be willing to pay more for another NZ option. This is all moot anyway as nothing is happening in NZ which is a real shame.

Yep, their mere presence will bring in more national sponsors. Melbourne has seen great success because of this.

Is there anything wrong with enthusiasm?

Who are they?

I haven't come across any posters like that yet, luckily.

Firstly, there is nothing arrogant about saying you have heard that something you want will or most likely will happen.

Where did i hear it from?

About 2 months ago one of the NRL bids had a meeting with Gallop and the NRL and the 'feel' amongst the fellas that represented that NRL bid was that the two teams in my signature will be the teams in.

Obviously i can't name any names but that is all i can say without getting in trouble with those guys.

That sounds like wishful thinking.

I think it might have something to do with GWS and GC Suns.

The problem is we need to go fully national to counter the AFL which is on the march in league heartland. We can't be truly national with most teams in NSW.

The IC should negotiate with the networks and ask them if they will help pay an inducement to the Sharks for a merger with another Sydney team. Add that to two new franchises and you have ... CCBEARS - IPSWICH JETS - WA REDS. To be introduced over 3 years to prolong the interest.

The AFL have 9 teams based in Melbourne, and one just down the road in Geelong. Add to that the fact the Swans and Lions have large Melbourne supporter bases. Guess it ain't truly a national comp.

And before you say it, I know the AFL would never consider adding another team in Victoria, but then again, the AFL don't have a team that was unfairly given the arse like the Bears were. They also don't have a population centre like the Central Coast where a team could be potentially based.

The AFL have just added 2 teams outside Victoria. They would be crazy to add to the 10 they already have there. I am certain they would like less teams in Melbourne and they have difficult times ahead with GWS, GC Suns, Adelaide Crows and some Melbourne teams with their hands out looking for financial support.

The crows would be pretty safe, port power are and have always struggled. Mate, don't you listen to the AFL propoganda? In 10 years time they'll have a 50 team competition in 30 countries :sarcasm:

Yes..a very interesting change of tact.

I have a feeling he's just reading the script and if that script changes then so does he.

Nothing at all, which is why I said overly-enthusiastic.

You've getting what you want to happen and what the facts are mixed up. The worst part is that you're trying to pull it off as if you have any idea at all what's going on behind the scenes.

Over-enthusiasm is something that does not exist in the world of which i live.

What facts are mixed up?

Second sentence is a little grammatically incorrect but i think i get what you mean and that is your opinion and you can have your opinion on anything including this, we'll all see what eventuates though and if i am wrong then i am wrong and some of the people i have been in contact with will get a rocket up their arses for it. We all have to wait.

But i am not the one making heavy handed claims like 'Ipswich are where the GC bid was' at this stage and so forth.

Unless you are from another world other than the one we all live in, over-enthusiasm is certainly a faux emotion that does exist.
Your third sentence is grammatically incorrect and contains terrible punctuation.
You're making heavy handed claims that you know that the NRL has already made a decision based on a 'feel' for something - who are you, Columbo?
Who are these people getting a rocket up their arses?

"What facts are mixed up?" i am not sure what is grammatically incorrect about this sentence.

You're making heavy handed claims that you know that the NRL has already made a decision.

I have never made an such claims, the only thing i have said that comes near this was when i said it would be ignorant to think the decision wouldn't or couldn't be made before the officially timing they have given us. Most things in most organisations happen weeks and months before the public becomes aware of things.

I have never once stated that the NRL have made a decision, i have only said which way i have heard that they are leaning towards.

Jumped the gun sunshine. I edited my post to say third sentence as I didn't see your first comment. Your third sentence of that post was totally grade 4. I don't normally play grammar nazi but when someone uses it themselves they open themselves up for examination.

And yet people making the decision have indicated to you that they are leaning this way. Who has said this? If your going to infer that you know people who have indicated to you via 'feel' that a decision has been made then go the whole hog and tell us who. Otherwise it can only be classed as bearsh*t.
