So are the Central Coast Bears boundaries going to be redrawn to start from Berowra to the central coast or will Milsons point still be part of their catchment area ?
I'm genuinely asking this question so I will know if they represent country or city as a rep team.

They’re left separate here, I’d guess that they’ll stay separate once the Bears come in too.

They’ll make the decision that benefits the competition the most…

Soccer fans got behind the Canberra, Tasmanian and Illawarra A-League bids but none of them are in the comp. AFL fans got behind a Tasmanian team but they missed out to areas which are actively hostile to AFL.

NRL is big business, don’t kid yourself in thinking that a few thousand fans will sway their minds when there’s potentially tens of millions of dollars riding on the decision.

Oh yeah thats right, fans are nothing when it comes to making decision. That why super league was so successful.

I know.. Hence why I said I hope your used to disappointment.

Besides all 16 clubs need to agree for them to come in and by the sounds of it they aren't as enthusiastic about it as you.

No not all clubs have to agree, there only has to be enough votes from the ARLC. Each club gets one vote.

Plus, i have no worries from what i have heard from the people i have heard it from i am not the one that will be disappointed.

So a CC team and a 4th Queensland team?

Oh wake up.

WA Reds are a must, its going to be

WA Reds and CC bears OR
WA Reds and another QLD team.

Currently the Bears are the strongest NRL Bid ever so it'll be them and the reds unlesss something huge happens soon and well they are running out of time.

You have Ipswich fighting with Central Queensland over sponsors lol over all things. Both Organisations are amateur to say the least.

I think he means not at the expense of WA or a second Brisbane side. I completely agree, WA and a second Brisbane side would be ideal for 2013 and Central Coast at the expense of a Sydney team.

Just because Central Coast is in the lead now doesn't mean they'll be the most sucessful club if entered into the NRL in 2013, I'd prefer a good bid from a great location than a great bid from a good location... if that makes sense.

Fair enough, i disagree but respect that.

Theres some idiots on this forum with bring back the bears signatures, who are fans of other clubs. Most new people would just presume they are bears supporters with their head up their arse. Not a good look, perhaps you lot should get an admin to ask them to remove it.
For the last month or so, I thought some of them were actual bears fans.

Just giving some feedback. BTW I bought a membership at the terrigal food and wine festival (even though im another club member).

lmao, what does it matter what team you support when it comes to Expansion?

Any NRL fan should have a right to discuss, support and talk about expansion.

That seems to be a staple argument from people like macavity actually - that a region's bid is supposedly undermined by supporters of other teams who are allegedly going to walk away from the club once it's up and running, I imagine to go back to supporting their pre-expansion club.

From my point of view there's no such thing. I'm a Bulldogs supporter, member etc etc first and foremost and the blue and white will ALWAYS take priority. However, I'm also a long-term resident of the Central Coast and know a lot about the region - enough to believe it deserves it's own rugby league team and deserves to have 15,000+ people sitting inside Bluetongue Stadium supporting it 11-12 times every year. As a local, I'm happy to commit to be one of those 15,000 and cheer for the Bears all bar once or twice per year when they face Canterbury.

How that damages the Bears bid doesn't make sense to me. Central Coast locals, including plenty who only following Rugby League flirtingly and "say they support the Knights because they're the closest thing to a local team", would adopt the Bears very quickly.

Interesting to look at the Titans from a similar perspective. I grew up on the Tweed, which the Titans claim as part of their catchment, as did the Giant Seagull Gladiator Chargers. The old team had next to no local support, but there were plenty of Saints, Tigers, Eels, Dogs, Bunnies, etc. supporters (and still are). One would have looked at that and concluded that the "locals won't switch from their old team to support the local team" argument holds water. Such a conclusion misses one crucial fact: the Seagulls were useless at promoting themselves and seeking to engage the local community, and with this added to their worse-than-Souffs on-field performances, it is little wonder almost no-one supported them.

The Titans, from day 1 (long before they played a game), have been a different kettle of fish altogether. They have promoted themselves long and hard, especially to the local kiddies, and they actually do a decent job of engaging the Gold Coast and Tweed communities (e.g. the Titans name, colours, and uniform were all voted by fans). This coupled with the fact they've been competitive on the field since day 1 has built a solid local fan base (it still makes me smile every time I see someone wearing a bit of Titans merchandise, because I remember well how rarely I ever saw anyone wearing Seagulls/Chargers gear).

So I guess the point is that if the job of promotion is done properly, the local community will embrace a new team. And this includes people like myself and Timmah, who will follow the local team as a second team.

It’s a good way to show solidarity. The more people supporting the bid the better, especially if they’re fans of other clubs. Or so I would’ve thought...

Very very smart posts (both of them), and shows how people REALLY do support clubs and newer clubs, also worth a mention is that in 15 years time after the Titans started (and 15 years after the Bears hopefully start) that locals growing up in these areas will change from previous generations and from their parents and start supporting the local team as their first team in many cases, obviously not in all cases.

Which team is that?

Either Central Queensland or a new bid from ipswich (not the current one) that would embrace the area and let the community help with a professionally run bid, rather then a corporate run bid with no community input that has been put together at the last minute once other bids have opened the door on a previously tightly shut door.

What have you heard?

I've heard the two teams that are in my signature will be the two new teams come expansion.

Have you also heard the following?

The NRL has yet to call for submissions for expansion teams.
The bid teams have yet to officially submit their bids.
The NRL clubs are still split on if they even want to expand.
We’ve barely even started putting out feelers for the new media deal which will have to bankroll the new teams.
Etc, etc, etc.

There’s a famous quote by Lincoln you’d be wise to listen to.

Yeah, i have heard all what has been release into the media but you would have to be ignorant to think a (unofficial) decision won't or hasn't been made before the Expansion bids are call for submission which will happen in March. Your second point is the same as your first. NRL clubs are spilt on where and when to expand, not on expansion itself. There was a article a few weeks back saying clubs wanted to hold expansion off to 2015 (meaning they do want expansion eventually) and were spilt on where i.e. NSW clubs apparently don't want the Bears, QLD clubs apparently don't want another QLD team in the market due to the recent influx of sporting teams in the last few years by all codes.

The NRL have already started negotiations with all the channel, its yet to be released but the inside news is that the NRL is somewhat close (atm) the billion dollars mark.
