Sacking a coach who is an Illawarra 'legend' would contradict WIN positioning, and be contrary to their investment objectives.
... not going to happen.
What???Don't think McGregor will be going anywhere soon ...

End of article alludes to WIN & their investment being to cement Illawarra influence, pathways and legacy into the Dragons.

I have a better idea, Tony Smith!Exchange him with Barrett. Definitely an improvement and you still get your Illawarra.

Just sit back and watch the place go down the tube.Honestly good business practice would dictate that McGregor be moved on ASAP as success is the main aim of good business practice.
What you are describing is more factional division and loyalty.Don't think McGregor will be going anywhere soon ...

Bozo is from the warraExchange him with Barrett. Definitely an improvement and you still get your Illawarra.
They have a longterm plan to emulate the 11 in a row for the next century please be patient everyone. What you are describing is more factional division and loyalty.
Who cares who McGregor played for. We should be hiring the most qualified coach available.
If WIN coming in is just going to foster more Illawarra agendas then we are going nowhere fast.

The WIN deal is our worst nightmare and Doust's legacy to the once mighty Dragons. After the last game and now understanding the deal done with WIN, I am ashamed of our Club and I never thought I would ever say that. It’s very clear that WIN Corp are simply advocates for the Illawarra region. The St. George element within the club is secondary to them (although ironically, without the Dragons there wouldn’t be any top level league on the Soutb Coast).
Damn we need to uncouple from this rabble called Illawarra. It’s very clear that WIN Corp are simply advocates for the Illawarra region. The St. George element within the club is secondary to them (although ironically, without the Dragons there wouldn’t be any top level league on the Soutb Coast).
I would have thought, like in most cases in our capitalist world, that they invest to make money. Winning helps to makes money. Investors are not likely going to be influenced by trivialities such as what jumper a person wore when they played if that person isnt capable to coach their investment to win big time and make them more money and thus a better return on their investment. This talk on here about WIN conspiring to bring down the venture just to ensure an Illawarra man is the coach are not well informed and to be honest just plain divisive. At this point in time the very last thing we need is an internal war, just ask the Liberal Party how that goes....not good.Don't think McGregor will be going anywhere soon ...

Let the dust settle first, see what the new CEO (who happened to wear the Red V all his career and never played for Illawarra) does when he actually does take over and then we can make a more informed opinion.
That’s just the point though.100% agree with this.
BJ doesnt take the reigns of CEO until Nov 1. His hands are tied until then.
The new board doesnt come in until Oct 1.
WIN will want to recoup their $10m asap particularly after several other failed business ventures (ch10).
Doust and the Illawarra crew will be hard at work ensuring their collective snouts are syphoning as much if our legacy as possible and ensuring their man remains as coach.
That’s just the point though.
Football clubs are not money making ventures, they all lose money every year.
Fine the NRL is increasing the club grants to $13 million next year, but that will just cover costs.
Last year one club, the Broncos, made a profit without the support of a Leagues club.
It’s going to take an awfully long time to recoup $10 million if your business doesn’t actually make any money.
Buying NRL clubs are “passion projects” for the likes of Rusty and the Penns, they are not genuine business ventures.
The NRL admits itself that only between 5 and 8 clubs will only just “break even” this year.
Yeah, I’m not sure I see how?You are indeed correct BGB, however, the difference here is WIN is a broadcaster who wilm recoup through advertising and promotions. Its not about the club itself more to do with the external revenue that can be generated.
