obviously never had the pleasure of visiting Nudgee Beach in Brisbane

Looks like prime habitat for mud crabs. There is the new name for the second Brisbane team, the Moreton Bay mud crabs.

LOL Channel 9 won't even exist by 2023,everything will be online streaming and all television will be dead,Disney will probably purchase the NRL online rights as they take over the entire world and usher in the NWO whatever that means

We go up to Broadbeach every year in Oct to visit the missus’ family.
Stay right on Kurrawa
I don’t mind it.
Weathers good
Heaps of bars and stuff.
Always seem to get good waves too.
It’s weird for me having surfed at Garie for the last 30 years.
Look back towards national park
No buildings.

Up there
Look back to a bizarre scenery
It’s like a huge silver and glass wall.

You’d think footy would work up there

Love Broadbeach, stayed at units Carmel by the Sea, got fatter, fuller and friskier whilst there.Oh and poorer Pacif Fair the haunt of my Missus.
Cbus needs heaps more parking , that's one of their current problems.

The Titans got excellent crowds their first couple years and when they had a good team.
They have just had a crap team for a long time.

Yes, it was 'trendy' & IF they start winning, all the fairweather fans may return - not a good basis for a club.

The best argument for maintaining the current number of teams is not a lack of playing talent.

It’s a lack of commentary talent. Speed, Anasta and Finch on fox tonight. Imagine if they had to scrape even further into the bottom of the barrel.

Absolutely, but in the case of the Raiders, Knights, Titans, Cowboys and Storm - there was no other team playing in those cities at the time.

With the exception of Melbourne, there were other clubs playing in all of those cities, and it's really annoying that people from Sydney don't acknowledge that.

The NSWRL/ARL and Sydney based fans came in and totally obliterated all the local clubs and traditions in the name of progress and growth, and then when it's time for them to give up their local clubs and traditions in the name of progress they refuse to do so in the name of tradition, and just expect everybody who's traditions that they've just thrown by the wayside to just respect their decision. It's f**king galling.

And besides, the fact that the Broncos exist doesn't change the fact that there's a huge group of people in Brisbane that are RL fans that are interested in supporting a local club (even if it's just so they have regular games to go to that aren't Broncos games).

The market is there, they want a team to support, and it's in everyone's financial interests to give it to them.

Think it's a given most people agree the market exists. To avoid diluting existing established markets located in this highly populated area from the Illawarra throughout Sydney and to the Central Coast is the thrust of people whom do not seek the dilution of this great and envied competition. From the Newcastle perspective, this city was in pure admiration of the Sydney competition. They had been wanting to join in for decades. Being part of a popular Big League was and is extremely attractive. If it is weakened it begs questions as to its authenticity and legitimacy. Rather than implode , additional clubs in expansion areas, with their own identities is prudent growth along with maintaining existing popular clubs. That's the best way forward.

Disagree that the Sydney did any such thing

The regional areas wanted to join to Sydney comp

Since 1910 when Newcastle pulled out of the comp country team have pitted themselves against Sydney teams

Initially as individual clubs then as regional rep teams. Bush week was a feature of 50s followed by State Cup and Midweek Cup

So in 1982 when expansion was proposed for Newcastle and Illawarra, It was a regional rep team that has always joined the Sydney comp

To now say on the Sydney rep team that played in City v Country clash can only play in it's 112 year old comp is ludicrous

What a load of bullshit.

You got the team(s) that you wanted and neglected your local league(s) by your own volition.

You can go back to the old days anytime you choose you know...

Will the die-hard fans of very important clubs Manly and Cronulla bother showing up to an elimination final if they have to drive more than 15 mins from home this week?

At least we don't flat out lie about our crowds.

You could usually count about 100 people in the crowd at Allianz and it would be recorded as 15k.

And don't deny it. You know it to be true if you ever go there yourself.

The SCG own and ran Allianz so how could we post a dodgy crowd total? What good would it do for the trust to lie as well?
