Yes things have changed , there's more competition for consumer dollars and less interest in rugby league
I vouch for that my son follows the Sharks but couldn't care less whether they win or lose he is not interested in Rugby League, while my daughter loves it .

Maybe Sydney needs to go "Back to the Future" and look like this..

* Western Suburbs Tigers (Parramatta Stadium, basically replacing Eels)
* Eastern Suburbs Roosters (SFS)
* South Sydney Rabbitohs (ANZ)
* North Sydney Bears (ANZ until a boutique stadium on the North Shore can be built)

St George-Illawarra to relocate to the 'Gong full time.

Bulldogs, Sharks, Manly to relocate or go down to NSW Cup.

Penrith to stay put, but take some lower-pulling home games to the country.

So basically teams where there are f**k all children to interest in the sport ?

As far as Queensland goes Ipswich or Toowoomba would be a good choice

And maybe a mid coast NSW team

Leave the Sydney teams as they are we've already scrapped North Sydney Balmain and Newtown , no coincidence they are inner city.

Remind everyone that the League started in NSW, the NSW Rugby League, teams built on tribalism. If you get rid of Sydney teams what do you have just an empty shell.

Well my teams name comes up again.
It must be said though.
Out of all the teams named The Sharks have done massive improvements and taken the biggest steps in remaining viable.
If they do kick us out it will pretty much spell the end of rugby league in the St George and Sutherland Shire.

4 games at Oki per year ( if that) won’t be enough to get any kid interested in footy.

AFL already had my son in a 4 week after school thing.
Cost $80
He got a footy and a blue tooth speaker at the end.
He loved it.
Would’ve been probably 100 kids do it.

If the NRL do kick sharks out the kids here won’t be going to watch any other NRL club.
Especially at Parramatta or in town.

Brad Fittler, "The Storm have too many quality players to fit into the 17 for the first round of the finals"

Also Brad Fittler " There isn't enough quality players in the competition for 17 teams"

You want to snafu a western Sydney club, the best supported of all of them, while leaving Roosters and Rabbitohs within spitting distance of one another, and the northern beaches unrepresented. I don't think it will gain traction.

$4-6mill dependent on club. Storm got $4.3mill from the nrl extra for 5 years as part of the agreement for news Ltd to sell them off. Nrl wanted Storm independent, it was a way of making that happen whilst protecting a significant investment on expansion. It’s worked a treat. The game is growing well in Melbourne, tv audiences have grown significantly, crowds have grown, grass roots conti use to grow invictoria and the storm are now profitable, Storm are most watched club on pay tv. Just like spending millions on other clubs in time of need nrl invested wisely in Melbourne. it makes sense to keep the game stable and growing.

If the Storm are doing such a great job of “growing the game” in Melbourne, then why, after over twenty years of successful on field performances, have they only produced three Victorian first graders. In fact the Storm are only Melbourne in name only. They are a franchise that sources their players from elsewhere (mostly Qld and NZ) and they could be based virtually anywhere. Established to give John Ribot a job in the aftermath of the Super League war.

That is spot on.My daughter who I took as a kid to Shark's games and to the 2016 grand final wanted to go to yesterday's game ,but all sold out.I still got one seat.Rest assured she would have zero interest in a relocated Sharks teams, and as for the large numbers of Shark's in junior comps well there would be no local big brother to aspire.
What quite a few clowns don't understand ,Sydney has another code who are prepared to spend big bucks to get youngsters interested, it happens in the Shire.Create any sort of sporting vacuum and it gets filled.

Greenberg may be off the planet at times, but he has more than a fair idea of the Shire's junior numbers, the numbers who attended the 2016 G/F committed and casual Sahrk's fans, and the plans for the ground development including the Centre of Excellence(of which the state Govt has committed well over $10-12m),and the full house yesterday, with thousands of youngsters in attendance. The saying get em when they're young holds sway.
Oh and they have money in the Bank with no debt.If they are financially viable ,good luck with relocation

They are a second Brisbane side if you will.
Is Tom Malone of ch9,a bro in law of John Ribot de Bresac?

Kids (and adult fans for that matter) already have to travel across the city for games in Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Canberra & Townsville.

Sorry, but the "we need NRL games in every suburb of Sydney" argument just sounds like privilege talking.
