When Ellis copped the knee in his thigh in the Manly game, he was clearly hobbling around in agony; meanwhile Rabbits was waffling on about some nonsense, totally oblivious to this game altering injury. It was Peter Sterling who brought it to their attention. Sterlo is the only commentator on 9 worth anything - he talks about relevant stuff and still has a good feel for the game.

Agreed, and furthermore, Sterlo is the only colour commentator on Ch9 that I could see getting an offer from Ch7 or 10 if either of them get the rights

Fox is strange with their choice of players and ex players for commentary and panel shows. Seem to choose plenty of guys who polarise fans ie Anasta, Ennis, Kimmorley, Woolford, Freeman, Wendall, Matty....... Hard pressed to say that any one of them is universally liked or really talented on TV.

Lockyer gets the gig because he is a Qlder. Kind of doesn't matter what he says, a bit like Wally. The only blokes he had to beat for the job were probably Ryan Phelan and a Walters brother.


Someone at 9 should call Andy Raymond.

Really? How do you this? I was just about to write (re:Fatty and Hadley making up with each other) about how it'd be like if Sterlo got partnered with Hadley in the commentary box, as it was Sterlo, moreso than Fatty, who had the feud with Hadley and never got along with him even when Hadley was on The Footy Show back in the '90s. Fatty's rift with Hadley was mainly due to John Gibbs, who being a close friend of Fatty, reneged on a deal with Hadley to stay at 2UE after 2GB got the radio rights during 1999. In a recent interview, it was stated that Gibbs is at the top of Hadley's most-hated list. The Big Marn, Gus Gould and Rabs have all had falling outs with Hadley in the past but have all made up since then. Given that Hadley is now a regular guest on The Footy Show now, I think it's safe to say that he and Fatty have made up, especially given that in 2005 Fatty and Sterlo threatened to leave the show when it was suggested that Hadley and Rebecca Wilson were going to be on TFS:

I'd LOL if Vossy was sideline commentator in a match where Hadley was the main caller. Being probably the 2nd most hated person on Hadley's list, I'd doubt Hadley would do any sideline crosses to Voss in commentary.

Anyone who watched the rugby world cup knew this was going to be the case. Normally i laugh at people who say they are going to watch it on mute. Now i understand.

Hadley had a chance to learn from the RWC experience and learning the art of modifying his calling style from radio-calling to tv-calling. Unless someone gives him a private word (which will most likely not happen as he's arrogant as ever and will never take advice from anyone but himself), I don't see this going down well and the ratings for the live QLD FNF game will plummet (sucked in to all the QLDers who will have to listen to his nasally voice), and most of the NSW folk will switch the channel after the 7:30pm game

Correct. Voss began to fall out of favour when he came out with his "tongue in cheek" comments and Hadley got angry and retaliated. The main player in all of this is the most powerful: Gyngell. He sided with Hadley (who he's close mates with) and then publicly rebuked Voss. Unfortunately for Vossy, it all went down hill from there but little did he know how far down hill his career at 9 would go until he found out that he'd been shafted from calling the 2nd FNF to the person who always held a grudge because he never made it in tv. It's fair to say that Voss is definitely on the outer and will be eager to land a calling position if Ch7 or 10 get the rights (I don't think Fox will take him on board as they already have 3 callers, with the new one being Matt Russell who superceded Braybrook, who was shafted to Toyota Cup)

That's been the underlying issue in all of this: Voss had a distinguished media career on tv (both in commentary and presenting) and Hadley never made it on tv after playing second fiddle to Fatty and Sterlo on TFS. I admit I'm not a fan of Voss, but whether or not you like him, he's definitely been given a shit sandwich and it further re-inforces the motif of the "Old Boys' club" that has infiltrated Ch9 for many years.

Great call from Hadley last night.

I tend to doze off during the second game but he kept me interested in the game all night with the flow of his call.

Unfortunately there are people on this forum with agendas against him no matter how good a job he does.

Some people are jealous of his incredible success and of course moron Labor/Communist Party supporters and halfwit Greens Party supporters on this forum would never give him any credit.

Guess I must be the half witted Greens supporter, since I hate Hadley's politics AND his commentary.

But wait, Sterling is a Lib but I like his commentary. How can this be?

Can a poor simple Greens supporter actually separate their political leanings from other things they like?

Surely not... by caring for others and not buying into socialised norms such as meritocracy, national pride and equality being extant values within our society, I have exhibited such simple mindedness that there is no way I could like a Liberal's commentary after knowing their political views, is there?

Actually, Hadley was crap because he spoke at a million miles per hour (see, we simple orange jugglers can't do math either), and described the position of play on the field in excruciating detail despite the fact we could all see where the play was (through the hazy smoke from our bongs).

Plus he is a giant knob. And I'm insanely jealous of the way he contributes nothing positive to our culture (except carbon dioxide for my huggable friends, the trees) except getting blue rinse, racist old biddies all wet and makes their inbred, gap toothed, topless mechanic sons angry at gay, atheist boat people with no jobs (aren't stereotypes fun?).

I'm not an Eels fan, but even you can see how this is one of the biggest disgraces in the NRL broadcasting schedule. I've always been a strong adherent that the Sunday game should be live at 4pm. The last two regular season FTA Sunday games - last week's Warriors/Manly game and Rd 26 Broncos/Manly last year - were pleasant viewing to watch. The broadcast flowed more smoothly. Ch9 can also have a 30 min or so pre-game show at 3:30pm. I'm sorry folks, but delayed broadcasts are a thing of the past. Even the AFL has got with the times and will be showing their Sunday arvo game live into Melbourne instead of on 1 hr delay.

Ch10 have the other 2gb commentators Andrew Moore and Joel Caine already don't they? Who knows although Fox has plenty of commentators Voss is as good as any of them. Maybe he could be the long term replacement for Fatty on the footy show if 9 keep the rights, otherwise I think he is in a spot of bother.
