For me it’s all about the spine tonight... I wasn’t overly impressed with McInnes last week and felt Hunt and Widdop played within themselves.. Dufty albeit for one error was dangerous in attack... Really hoping to see some creative spark from these lads... also will keep a keen eye on Kerr . He was great last week and a smokey in my view for Rd1.

I'm never impressed by McInnes. Granted, he makes a lot of tackles but so what? His passing from dummy half is substandard as evidenced by the drop made by Graham in the first half. Creativity (or, lack thereof) is also another major deficiency.

Expect more forward passes as the season progresses.

Dufty made more than one error against Hull, and I reckon he will get less latitude against NRL sides. I'll be keeping an eye on his one-on-one defence, and the amount of times he gets bundled over the sideline tonight.

Agreed - the halves definitely played within themselves. I loved Hunt's composure and 'one precenters'. He will prove to be an excellent acquisition.

Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention, but I didn't see Kerr providing any noticeable impact.

I'm not too fussed with the result. The Hunt and Widdop combo obviously needs work and without those 2 clicking it's going to be pretty irrelevant who we put in other positions.

This will be a good opportunity for them both to put some work into their plays and how they work together on the field. Additionally it will be a good opportunity for them to work with Cam and Duft to form a great spine combo. I think it will take a few games in before we see the fruits of this setup anyway.

Additionally we saw last year that the game means nought in the grand scheme of things. We played the same ol same ol game in last years CS and most on here were slitting their wrists before the season even started. Then round 1 came and we were playing a different style. I honestly don't think they are looking at it as anything more than a hit out and an opportunity to work out a couple of combos/kinks and players securing their spots. Besides, for the Hull game I saw a couple of players not in top gear - which tells me it was just to blow out the cobwebs - and I think this game will be treated the same.

Not convinced Luc starting is the best option but perhaps tonight, in this last trial, giving him some tough early minutes might be good for him to taste...
