Ohhh the hate is fresh and ripe this morning. Bitter merkins! lol congrats to Warriors, well deserved win.
The joy is fresh and strong this morning. The hate is as strong as it was the day your team was found to have been systematically cheating all other teams for 5 years.

Cocky Saints fans snare finals seats

COCKY, arrogant or just plain passionate? Amazingly, the Dragons' Red V Army has snapped up four times more grand final tickets than fans from rival clubs.

It is a defiant message from Saints supporters ... they want back-to-back titles. But they still can't kick their Canberra hoodoo, with the Raiders triumphing 24-19 last night.

As of last night, Dragons ticketed members had bought 34.3 per cent of grand final tickets.

The next best were Brisbane supporters, who had purchased 8.9 per cent of tickets for the October 2 decider.

Cronulla fans are least interested, with 1.5 per cent of tickets bought.

It is startling to think Saints fans are so much more bullish about their side's chances than other clubs.

"This shows how much Dragons fans love their club," NRL chief executive David Gallop said.

Former Dragons premiership-winning captain Steve Edge believes the passion of Saints fans goes back to the club's famous 11 consecutive titles between 1956 and 1966.

"It's our culture," Edge said.

"It has been in place for many, many years, going back to the 11 in a row. It has been handed down from dad to son and it has kept going."

Asked if it is passion or cockiness, Edge said: "It is passion. The fans are still there when the side isn't winning. To have 34 per cent of tickets sold is amazing. Saints fans aren't afraid to support the team, under any circumstances."Former St George Illawarra centre Mark Coyne echoed Edge's opinion, saying there is again poised to be a sea of red and white at the grand final.

"It (the support) has put a bit of pressure on the players but it is fantastic encouragement," Coyne said. "It shows so much trust in the team to get there again. It is a great show of faith.

"Last year St George Illawarra were the standout side but Melbourne are back and Manly and Brisbane are hovering around. It will be a harder competition to win this year.

"No one has gone back-to-back in the NRL but there is always a first time. And plenty of clubs have won successive titles before the NRL."

Grand final tickets to the general public go on sale from 10am on Thursday.

"The numbers are a credit to everyone at the St George Illawarra club," Gallop said.

"The club has a rich history."

Old news. Do you lot all live in your scrapbooks? This year we are under the cap, so find a newer reason to hate, the other one is getting stale.

Spooked bookie pays out on Dragons

ONE of Australia's leading sports bookmakers is so convinced the NRL minor premiership race is over he has paid out all bets on Wayne Bennett's Dragons - three months before the end of the season proper.

In a sensational move labelled a "joke" by St George Illawarra Dragons chief executive Peter Doust, Sportsbet boss Matt Tripp said yesterday's decision to cough up more than $50,000 to punters who had already backed the competition frontrunners would hopefully stimulate betting on other options.

The Dragons' sensational form has strangled betting on the minor premiership.

Tripp said he realised nothing would stop the Dragons winning their third straight minor premiership after he watched most of the club's Origin stars back up and beat the Wests Tigers.

"I thought if there was ever going to be a weakness it was going to be post-Origin, but they again performed against the Wests Tigers. They don't look like having a slump and they've got plenty of depth," Tripp said.

However, Doust was stunned when informed about the early five-figure payout by The Daily Telegraph.

"That has to be a joke. I find that amazing given the circumstances of the competition. We're not even halfway through and I find that silly," Doust said.

"We're all doing as much as we can to get through this rep period. There is so much to be accomplished, so we're not getting ahead of ourselves in that context. We're very happy with the way the season is unfolding but it's very even and very rigorous."

But Tripp said: "Punters may as well enjoy their cash now as we'd be paying them in a few months anyway.

"You wouldn't give Usain Bolt a 10m head start over the 100, which is exactly what their rivals face based on the Dragons' current form."

The Dragons are $1.22 for the minor premiership with TAB Sportsbet and the betting giant is holding roughly $100,000 on the option.

TAB Sportsbet's Matt Jenkins said the Dragons opened $4.50 with one bet of $10,000 at $4 snapped up on March 9.

Jenkins said his organisation was holding a $500 multibet, which features the Dragons' minor premiership, Collingwood to win the AFL minor premiership, Barcelona to win the Champions League and Japan the Asian Cup, with the latter two having already saluted. The multi will return $70,875 if the Dragons and Pies triumph. Michael Sullivan's Sportingbet said it had not received many bets on the minor premiership market but "punters had invested 10 times that amount on actual premiership betting".

Punters consider Manly and Melbourne, $6 and $8 respectively with TAB Sportsbet, as the main title threats to the Dragons, who are at $3.

How did you guys go with that?

An article from july 26, f**k me dead. Your hate of our great club makes you look like a petulant, whinging 6 year old. At least we were good enough to make the semi's again. how did the faiders fare this year, oh that's right they couldn't even come close to living up to their own fans expectations.

Your lame attempts to make a thread about melbourne into a dragons thread says everything that needs to be said about you. You sad, sad merkin. It must suck to be you.

So they cheated the salary cap, I think that they would have kept that roster with most of those years if they were under.
BUT I am so happy they lost because of how filthy they are especially that diry piece of filth Cameron Smith.

Suck eggs you bastards

Lol@bitter fans of knocked out teams.

.......the ones hurt most crying out the loudest and then you have the shit dribblers whose teams didn't even make the finals.

Hilarious....well said Cliffy

nice to see Cam Smith had no answers for the press conference, he just couldn't accept the fact that they had lost and wouldn't be in the grand final

he still oozes arrogance even when he loses

Least he didn't have a big cry and give the refs a massive spray.......like Crybaby Gallen

Warriors were red hot last night. Congratualtions guys a well deserved victory

and congrats to the Storm. I don't think too many were giving you much of a chance last off season. To play as well as you did for the entire season is a fantastic effort.

The look on Bellamy's face was gold!
Cam Smith almost in tears...............loved it!
A team and their officials who never once apologised for the trouble they brought to themselves and the game overall...............I call it karma!
Such an arrogant side who will always be remembered for cheating!
The game is now better off with this team out of contention for this year and hopefully many years to come.
Go the Warriors.

But they did you twit. Haritgan, boss of NEWS LTD, owners of the Storm, temporary boss of the Storm when Matt Hanson was sacked, apologised to the game for what happened. That is an apology from the head official of the Storm.

What idiots like yo-self are really saying is you want Bellamy and the players to apologies for something they had no part in orchestrating.

Cameron "I signed 3 contracts & I manage myself" Smith.

not to mention not one player agreed to cooperate with the forensic accountants who were authorised to investigate all the melbourne Storm dealings.

of course they would never apologise, they have no integrity at all.

Melbourne Storm = integrity free franchise.
