Chris Lawrence's debut in 2006 was a good one. Tigers were fielding a second string side, and lots of the young blokes really stood up (Lawrence scored a good try in that match).

um another one that wouldnt be bad would be Benji's debut in 2003 vs newcastle he carved them up

Matt seers i think had a decent debut

Sorry, but I remember Benji coming off the bench in his debut & he didn't do that much. There was a lot of hype because he was still at school, but Tim Sheens was very cautious & didn't give him another start for a few weeks. Then he had a good game against the Broncos when the Tigers beat them in Brisbane. It was the first time we really saw his trademark step & he bamboozled a few defenders, but the funny part was he should've scored from one break & tripped over because he was moving his feet so much.

I can't remember Matt Seers' debut....

yeah fair enough - seems like you're a Tigers fan & remember the game closely, but my point was that he really cut loose in the Broncos game & made several breaks - so I wouldn't classify 1 run as carving the Knights up, but all healthy discussion. It's funny that sometimes you think someone had a good / bad game because of something good / bad they did late in the game, but then you watch the replay & their overall game is completely different. ie - quite often the guy who scores a late try gets man of the match

Is it worth a separate thread - best debuts ?

Lockyer - can't remember how he went, unsure if it was 1 of the few games on tv

Was vs the Eels in 1995 @ Parra stadium. Broncos were down 14-6 @ halftime. They won the game 60-14.
Lockyer set up a couple of tries after coming in off the bench.

didnt slater play center in his debut game? i think the sharks were up by 20 or something then the storm came home strong. ill be voting for that one.

agree re the tigers eels game, was an absolute stinker of a game.

that try he scored was amazing, shaun berrigan showed him the sideline and lawrence just took off, absolutely smoked him. id never seen him play before and nearly fell off my seat.

i dont think anyone ever showed him the sideline again

Played on the wing, spent the next month or so in the centres before moving to fullback.

Maybe over the off-season they should have a team per week - ie: one week have three of the best (excl. GFs and PFs) Parramatta games from the past 15 years, the next week Penrith, then Knights........, etc

Australia travelled to Auckland having won the previous Test that year 20-14, in a game that finished three tries apiece. In the tournament opener Stacey Jones fired in front of his home crowd as the Kiwis turned on a phenomenal first half, but would it be enough to hold off a second-half Kangaroos resurgence?

The Kiwis boasted good recent form on home soil against the Kangaroos however lost the mid-year Test 37-10 in Newcastle. New Zealand were back to full strength and featured an emerging Sonny Bill Williams who had impressed on debut and won an NRL grand final just two weeks earlier. In wet conditions at North Harbour Stadium, this one would go down to the wire.

The Kangaroos however, entered the final at Sydney Football Stadium having won both previous encounters during the series.
