These crazy trades make NBA2K12 so much more fun. It is funny that I would not do these type of trades a few years ago in the games with my teams as I didn't think it was realistic and now we have super teams such as the Heat, Lakers, Knicks who have added all stars in their prime in quick succession.

Been reading that the Lakers might not get any other players back, but rather get a couple of trade player exceptions (similar to what Toronto and the Cavs got when they sign-n-traded Bosh and Lebron to the Heat without taking any players back.).

Not sure how it works, but I'm guessing the Lakers would get a TPE equivalent to the difference between the total salaries of Odom and Gasol (the salaries that are going out) and Paul's (the salaries that are coming in). Which is something like $11 mill. Anyone know if that's how it works?

Again that's assuming that the Lakers don't get any other players, other than Paul, back in return.

Well what this trade suggests is contrary to popular belief, owners lost the lockout negotiations. Players fought to preserve this freedom of movement and won.

The whole point of the lockout was for owners to a bigger slice of the pie. Which they did. The rest was just posturing to the public.

In regards to your above tweet, I kinda hope it happens. And I can understand why other owners would be pissed with a team owned by the league making such a major trade.

That was the factor everyone forgot. The NBA owns New Orleans. Unlike every other team, New Orleans is forced to act in the best interest of the league.

Having yet another small market go straight to the lottery while the Lakers were guaranteed another decade of success is not in the best interest of the league (aka the other 29 owners).

I'll laugh if the Lakers give a big middle finger to everybody and go and trade the same pieces for Howard.

This pretty much means that Paul can't be traded anywhere as long as the Hornets are owned by the league. Fine by me.

So, instead of letting him get traded for some good pieces, they now allow him to play a season out and walk away in free agency.

Smart move!

Even if Lakers get Howard now, Kobe is on the decline, and Howard will be back where he started, playing with a bunch of scrubs with overpaid contracts, lol

I really don't understand it. Unless the league can sell of the Hornets pretty soon, looks like New Orleans will be losing Chris Paul in free agency for nothing.

This situation is genuinly baffling. Fascinating as well!
